Does it have a name?
When did they adopt this?
This Camo is excellent. I wish every police unit in India had such unique patterns instead of copying from each other and Army.
I don't know the name. They must have adopted it taking the most common surroundings into consideration. Probably already available camo patterns in the market didn't work for them & it is for STF which is a specialised unit. Whereas their IRBN uses Army's old camo pattern.

Most of the police SWAT units prefer black but there are many with their own camo patterns for ex Chattisgarh STF, Kerala IRB/Thunderbolts, UK ATS, Bihar STF, Nagaland STF, Manipur CDO. Madhya Pradesh CTG HAWK etc.

Ever been to the training of police constables? The training regime is too tough and mentally exhausting. You will not get any muscle from the constant physical exercises but will only get leaner.Dont know how things are done in US, but here while doing training cops dont get any time to go to gym or use suppliments.
I haven't been but I am actually very interested in how police work and are set up and function and who they report to and stuff like this

Police should only start using Army Camo Patterns and Uniforms ones they are decommissioned from service. If the Police, Assam Rifles and Army all have the same Camo and uniform it is super difficult to differentiate each unit from the other and it will create a lot of problems. Maybe except for the Police the Army and Assam Rifles don’t even have identification Patches or Unit Name Plate on the left chest. I don’t understand why Police and Military units In India copy each other off instead finding something that is unique which can fit the terrain or environment were they operate on.
Well, the army pattern is used by the IRBN units and state police forces uses the old army brushstroke pattern camo in limited numbers, other than that every state police use their own camouflage pattern which are pretty different from each other.

I have seen many pictures were I seen Police Special units using the current Army Pattern or Patterns similar to the ones wear by the CAPFs. IRB can technically can be considered part of the state armed police forces. The Indian Palm Leaf Camo Pattern used by State Police is very old. They should have replaced it a along time ago. Police units still use Jackets, Chest Rigs and Riot Gear issued in this old Camo Pattern.

Nice thread about Naga STF!
This thread also cleared by doubt about Nagaland armed police and Naga IRBn
Naga STF in the middle, Naga armed police in the right and Naga IRBn in the left.
