This is Uttarakhand IRBn!!
View attachment 55012
Each border state having say 5000 IRB personnel each will be a good addition to Army and BSF/ITBP.
Most IRBs I saw were well kitted and well trained.

Could be used in conflict with China to provide additional protection (along with Army/ Paramil) to tunnels, bridges and stuff like that and free up some Army, Para Mil troops
They can be integrated

J-K Police to get over 150 bulletproof gypsies
The Jammu and Kashmir Police is all set to include over 150 bulletproof gypsies in its fleet, a step taken after increasing terror attacks on security forces, a police official said today.

In this regard, the police had floated a notice last week inviting tender for fabrication of the vehicles into bullet resistant vehicles (BRVs) to arm officers, cops and moving patrol teams against the terror attacks.

The Centre government has already announced Rs 500 crores for the modernization of J&K Police under Prime Minister Development Programme.

"J&K government hereby invited reputed and registered manufacturers of fabrication of bullet resistant vehicles to unarmour 154 gypsies with protection against 7.62mmX39mm (AK-47) without run flat system", Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Provisions, Mubassir Latifi, said.

A lot of things are being procured to modernize the police force after recent attacks on policemen by terrorists. The Ministry of Home Affairs was kind enough to take swift action and sanctioned the bullet proof vehicles for almost all police stations and senior officers, Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, S P Vaid, said.

The underbelly of vehicles shall be protected against the blasts of two hand grenades of HE-36 intensity, the AIG said, adding the bullet resistant material and bullet resistant glasses to be used shall withstand the required protection levels as laid down in the test direction of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

In terrorist attacks in the state, as many as 72 civilians and 201 security personnel were killed during 2015-17, the officer said.

In 2018, there were 28 incidents of violence in Jammu and Kashmir in which four security personnel and eight militants were killed, he said.

Uttar Pradesh police: Finally, century-old .303 rifles discarded
Aiming at strengthening law and order and providing more secure environment to citizens, especially women, the Uttar Pradesh government is equipping its police with 63,000 INSAS rifles and 23,000 self-loading rifles (SLR), replacing the century-old .303 rifles.

In a statement released by state Home Department, Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi said that the police are going to have modern weapons and senior officers have been directed to ensure that the INSAS and SLR rifles replace the old .303 rifles.

“The state police are being equipped with new modern weapons to strengthen the law and order, better control on crime and provide more secure environment to women and common citizen,” said Awasthi.

The districts have been directed that no .303 rifles be used at police stations anymore, read the statement.

Vijay Kumar Maurya, Additional Director General (ADG), Logistics, said 8,000 INSAS rifles had been kept in reserve in view of the upcoming appointments.

A proposal to buy 8,000 more INSAS rifles and 10,000 .9mm pistols is also being sent to the government, the statement further stated.

Gorakhpur, Varanasi to get tourism police stations

To help and provide a secure environment to the national and international tourists, the state government has given its approval to open a ‘tourism police station’ each in Gorakhpur and Varanasi.
