i dont get why city cops use 9mm or 5.56 instead of 7.62 ????? can imagine collateral damage it unleashesTelangana Police personnel during training

Your point is right but cost & reliability are also some issues to be considered. AK type rifles don't require regular cleaning. Bulgarian Arsenal, TAR & GHAATAK are cheap and easily available. Plus we all know the scenario in India. Regular cops don't usually get chance to fire weapons during actual duty (Except JKP, NE or CG). There are still more INSAS & now new Excalibur variants than AK clones in service. You can find some new 5.56mm Excalibur rifle pics here.i dont get why city cops use 9mm or 5.56 instead of 7.62 ????? can imagine collateral damage it unleashes
Very true - i think we are going to see INSAS with cops for the next 20 years at least.Your point is right but cost & reliability are also some issues to be considered. exactly....9mm is enough for state law enforement if they wanna something which packs more punch....then its 5.56.....7.62 as snipers yes fine but as standard rifle no,,,,Very true - i think we are going to see INSAS with cops for the next 20 years at least.
26/11 attacks at CST - one constable fired rounds from his 303 but could not hit anything. What is the point of equipping cops with rifles which they cannot operate, or worst kill 3 civilians with one bullet.
It is better if cops are armed with simple and inexpensive firearms like 9mm Hi Power or perhaps Amogh or JVPC carbines - anything which connects when they fire.
