Notice not related to Chhattisgarh, CM Raman Singh never travelled by helicopter: Govt
The regulator said a Bell 407 helicopter with VT-KSA registration number was hired from King Rotors and Air Charter by the state government to be used for police action in Naxal areas.

The Chattisgarh government has clarified that the helicopter by which Chief Minister Raman Singh travels is an official helicopter with a double engine and is tested on all technical parameters of safety.

Director, Aviation Department Rajat Kumar informed the CM has never travelled by the helicopter belonging to King Rotors Company to either Aurangabad or Nagpur.

“The notice issued by King Rotor Company in February 2015 is not at all related to Chhattisgarh…. the government has hired for this company’s services from July 2015 but before that there was no association as such,” an official statement clarified. On Thursday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the government has been utilising an aircraft hired for police operations to ferry Singh, a surprise check has revealed.

The regulator said a Bell 407 helicopter with VT-KSA registration number was hired from King Rotors and Air Charter by the state government to be used for police action in Naxal areas.

i dont get why city cops use 9mm or 5.56 instead of 7.62 ????? can imagine collateral damage it unleashes
Your point is right but cost & reliability are also some issues to be considered. AK type rifles don't require regular cleaning. Bulgarian Arsenal, TAR & GHAATAK are cheap and easily available. Plus we all know the scenario in India. Regular cops don't usually get chance to fire weapons during actual duty (Except JKP, NE or CG). There are still more INSAS & now new Excalibur variants than AK clones in service. You can find some new 5.56mm Excalibur rifle pics here.

Very true - i think we are going to see INSAS with cops for the next 20 years at least.

26/11 attacks at CST - one constable fired rounds from his 303 but could not hit anything. What is the point of equipping cops with rifles which they cannot operate, or worst kill 3 civilians with one bullet.

It is better if cops are armed with simple and inexpensive firearms like 9mm Hi Power or perhaps Amogh or JVPC carbines - anything which connects when they fire.

exactly....9mm is enough for state law enforement if they wanna something which packs more punch....then its 5.56.....7.62 as snipers yes fine but as standard rifle no,,,,

What police did with Jayaraj and Fenix in Tuticorin was brutal and shameful.
