Police to should be trained professionally in hostile environment and they should be trained on multiple weapons...All the state police personal should be made one Police...that should be named Indian national police force and there should one special camouflage uniform for all police force and fitter and professional men should be there....

All police personal in india should have same camouflage uniform which should be different from regular army uniform...and all the police personal should be provided with M4 rifles, knee pads, bullet proof jackets, bullet proof helmets and fast moving vehicles...

I absolutely and vehemently disagree. We don't need to convert our entire Security Apparatus into one big SWAT unit. Good Police work doesn't only include dealing with gun violence.

After 26/11, dozens of these "Police Commando" units have been appearing all over the internet. Each unit has their own specialized weaponry , so special ammo needs to be imported regularly . Also, the effectiveness of these units, many of whom were created almost overnight, remains unknown. in future, god forbid, if a hostage situation occurs in a major city possessing such a commando unit, the acid test would be whether they engage the enemy themselves, or carry out holding operations while waiting for the NSG to arrive.

Gujarat police:

Chetak Commando-Gujrat[/SIZE]

IMHO it is bad idea to have Ghatak Commando written on their vehicle, by doing that, Terrorists can easily identify them on the move and thus in Mumbai terror attack where ATC was attack on the move can happen. Just Police would be good enough for them.

Hmm, initially I agreed with you but then I thought about it and who better for such scumbags to engage then the force/guys charged with taking on militants in emergency cases? These, until the NSG is on scene, are likely to be the best possible counter any city/state has to 26/11-like gunmen and better they shoot at them and engage them then the unarmed beat cops running around with lathis and maybe the odd revolver/.303. At least these special units should give a fitting reply to such scum.

Also, if they've got armoured vehicles (as they have) then shooting at such a vehicle is a retarded move anyway.

Btw the US SWAT/SRUs teams, more often than not ,have their unit name/designation printed on their vehicles.

Think it this way they are probably first effective contact with terrorist. If terrorists wont get chance to put up their effective defence, we can take them out easily even before NSG reach the spot.

In Mumbai attack only effecive police force to take on terrorist was ATC and they were taken out even before they can aim and pull trigger. Thereafter terrorists had almost free run untill Marcos arrieved.

AFAIK the role of the ATS (in any Indian state) is not/never was to be the first responders and combat terrorists- this was/is the job of the QRT. The role of the ATS is to foil terror attacks and investigate them after they have taken place. The ATS weren't/aren't trained in close-combat nor are they particularly well armed. As such the comparisons between the 26/11 ATS incident and any QRT being engaged in any future attacks are a bit pointless.

An Indian police personnel watches a combat ready Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) equipped with a state-of-the-art remote transmitting camera and communication equipment after a demonstration of the dog's agility and capabilities in hostile situations, during the inauguration of CRPF's (Central Reserve Police Force) Dog breeding and training school on the outskirts of Bangalore on December 5, 2011. These highly trained combat dogs are capable of taking remote orders from its handler over wireless communication set, and carry out an attack, bite and disarm besides sniffing narcotics and explosives.
Pretty cool, eh?!! Didn't know anyone in India, let alone the CRPF, had such tech!

I beg to differ you Alby. Its the police force who is guarding you from evils of the society, from shooting a notorious gangster or terrorist to help you driving. Please don't judge a whole police community on the basis of some bunch of traitors in the force. If you are considering traitors you will find many of them in army also, they take bribe, they rape innocent girls. Arbitrarily judging a whole community is not expected.

Sorry man i didnt say each and every police officer is a corrupt one.But I had seen many corrupt police officers in my life who takes bribes from even road side tea vendors with out any reason and fines the boys who wears low waist jeanns:p.But will not do any thing against the one who travels in the sedans even if they are rapists or murderers.
And concerning army also i know there are many black sheeps among them who dones fake encounters and rapes innocent girls and takes away fund meant for the army.
