Like the second - its pretty obvious from available satellite images:

But they are not really side-by-side, they're still one behind the other - just that the hinge/actuator that opens the silo door is offset to port & starboard alternatingly.
Yeah I got it thanks for your information.

No source in the media or Wikipedia mentions K-4 even being tested from a submarine, let alone deployed on one, and doing a deterrence patrol. So this is major, if true.

India, meanwhile, has managed to complete just one SSBN, the INS Arihant. Delivery of the planned four SSBNs is running well behind schedule. The developers were understood to be facing difficulties in miniaturising the nuclear reactor and also in creating adequate space for housing the larger K-4 ballistic missiles, in place of the relatively shorter range K-15 missile that the INS Arihant carries. The resolution of such fundamental challenges could take a significant amount of time.

On the contrary, 2 boats (Arihant and Arighat) are clearly visible in Google Earth at SBC. The Aridhaman has disappeared off the books and this smokescreen may be permitting IN to get adequate fish in the water. Secrets can be maintained with indigenous products - not with imports. However, AS is full of .....!

No mate! You are wrong! K-4 has been tested and it has infact been mentioned in the K-4 Missile Wikipedia page for your kind information.
Here is a Screenshot to make it easier for you.

In April 2016, it was reported that the missile was successfully tested on 31 March 2016 from INS Arihant, 45 nautical miles away from Vishakhapatnam coast in Andhra Pradesh. The missile with a dummy payload was launched from the submarine in full operational configuration. The trial was carried out with the support of the personnel of Strategic Forces Command (SFC) and the DRDO provided all the logistics. The missile was fired from 20-metre deep and covered more than 700 km before zeroing on the target with high accuracy reaching close to zero error.

France Set To Offer Barracuda Nuclear Submarines To India

French Defence Minister to visit New Delhi for talks with Rajnath Singh on December 17

15th December, 2021
by Vishal Thapar

France is set to dramatically scale up defence cooperation with India by putting the Barracuda nuclear attack submarine on the table. French Defence Minister Florence Parly is expected to broach the offer for the Barracudas with a Make in India element during her visit to India on December 17 and 18, BW Businessworld has learnt from highly-placed sources. The French Minister is slated to have talks with her Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on December 17.

This is the first time that a nuclear-powered attack submarine technology would be offered to India. In the past, Russia and the erstwhile Soviet Union have on two occasions leased nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSN) to India. India has also signed a reported $3 Billion deal in 2019 for the lease of another SSN of the Akula class to the Indian Navy, making it the only navy other than those of the P5 countries to have operated a nuclear attack submarine.

The Barracuda class submarine is nuclear-powered but not nuclear armed. An SSN like the Barracuda is nonetheless the most formidable sea denial weapon. This submarine, while remaining submerged for extended durations, has a powerful land attack capability with the 1,000-km-range Scalp Naval cruise missile. The time between refueling is a reported 10 years.

Observers reckon that the door for the French offer of nuclear submarines to India opened up after the deal to provide American and British nuclear submarine knowhow to Australia upon the forging of the AUKUS grouping to deter China. France is also smarting from the Australian cancellation of a mega deal for 12 conventional submarines while accepting the American offer under the AUKUS umbrella.

But acquiring deep technology for SSNs has been a priority for India for many years. The indigenous programme for six SSNs is still in the design stage. The offer for the Barracuda is the consequence of regular deep consultations with France to deepen military cooperation. In October, the 5th session of the India-Franco Maritime Cooperation dialogue was held in Paris to carry forward discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Defence cooperation was reportedly on top of the agenda during the 35th Indo-French Strategic Dialogue between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his French counterpart Emmanuel Bonne in Paris in November. The two sides have also been interacting deeply at a number of other fora, and France has repeatedly declared India as the cornerstone of its strategy in the Indo-Pacific.

The Barracuda submarine is produced by the Naval Group, which is currently engaged in delivering the contract to build six Scorpene class diesel-electric submarines at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL), Mumbai, for the Indian Navy.

If the Barracuda offer gains momentum, it is expected to have repercussions for the ongoing $5.7 billion programme to build a new line of six diesel-electric submarines for the Indian Navy under Project 75 (I), which is already struggling with a de facto single vendor situation.

Recently, BW Businessworld reported exclusively that of the two foreign OEMs which meet the Project 75 (I) tender requirement for a proven fuel cell-based Air Independent Propulsion System, the German TKMS is giving indications of a pullout from the competition, leaving only the Daewoo KSS-III of South Korea in the fray. In this situation, both the shortlisted Indian Strategic Partner hopefuls MDL and L&T would be compelled to submit rival bids in collaboration with the same foreign partner, effectively reducing it to a single horse race with two jockeys.

The Barracuda offer could potentially subsume Project 75 (I), informed observers reckon.

The French Defence Minister is also expected to reiterate the pitch for the Rafale in connection with an upcoming Indian tender for 114 Multi Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA).

France offers Barracuda nuclear submarines...😊😊😍😍

We’ll not buy Nuclear subs from anyone, those are strategic assets. We’ll build them in-house. At max we’ll negotiate for P-75I

We are still leasing KILO subs from Russia. I think getting these from France along with some important TOT might be a good option. That wil help us bridge the technical gaps in making such things inhouse. I don't know if we are even trying to build a SSN at this moment.

Even though I’ll love to see Barracuda class SSNs in Indian Avy but chances are very bleak.

French are butthurt after aukus kicking them out of Australia. They are just trying to be proactive and offer India what we are actually looking for and before someone else (usa) offer it to us. They also know that we love their offensive weapons as they are with no string attached.
Only question is pricing and limit of tot they will offer.

Today i learn something new.....it's a myth that AIP submarines are quiter than a Nuclear submarine.

No wonder US never invested in non nuclear Subs & keep on improving Nuclear one. Japan is using lithium ion batteries in her new submarines types trying to overcome problem faced by AIP but it still can't match the endurance of a nuclear submarine.

No, it's not black and white.

India's major focus of naval submarine force had been littoral conflict (close to coast) and to keep costs down. Nuke subs are too costly, reactor tech takes decades to mature and test, they are huge (because of reactor size) hence not easily maneuverable in tight spaces, nuclear subs tend to run hot in shallow waters so prefer operating at depth where it is cooler. Finally, disposing off nuke fuel at the end of its lifecycle is a major headache for any nation.

DE subs on the other hand negate the range disadvantage when operating close to friendly shores. In shallow waters they are in their element, more maneuverable and come at fraction of the cost.

USA? And nuclear powered Submarine? Or nuclear powered submarine Technology for That Matter? No way man, I don't think so That the US will offer us something like that in my opinion.

The only Countries which will always be ready to offer such Technology to us are the Russians and the French. Like how the Russians gave us Akula class Submarine Chakra 3 on lease for 10 years and how the French are offering us the Barracuda class SSNs.

Like these kind of offers are highly unlikely from the side of the United States.

We should go ahead with SMX 3.0 which France offered to build for us for P75l. Tailored made for what our Navy asked near to 3T displacement with DRDO AIP. We can build 6 at our ship yards with ToT and learn know how for future indegenous Subs. This will be ideal step as we already operate scorpenes and gained some knowledge already. Baraccuda is ridiculously costly to build and operate and with budget we have don't think MoD will fancy the offer. Also Navy isn't keen on nuclear subs as of now. Navy wants 3rd AC
