Indian Navy to add 125 more ultra modern Warships and many submarines in the next ten years

Indian Navy to add 125 more ultra modern Warships and many submarines in the next ten years. The race between Indian and Chinese Naval dominance is spectacular sight. Jointly Indian and Chinese Navy will soon counter US Naval strength.
India has one of the fastest growing navies in the world. Its fleet of about 120 vessels is the fifth largest in the world.Within a decade Indian will only lad America in Naval power. China is not sitting around. Chinese are catching up fast. But India is zzoming fast past their Chinese Naval counterpart.
Captain Alok Bhatnagar, director of naval plans at India’s ministry of defence gave an upbeat estimate of India's future naval plans. Hundreds of ships are already in the plans. Nuclear submarines, Aircraft carriers, Warships, Frigates, Remote controlled underwater submerged war apparatus are all in the making. Admiral Sureesh Mehta, chief of naval staff, says in an upbeat statement that the Indian navy would spend more than Rupees $10 billion a year on an average over the next twelve years on new capabilities, with about 70 per cent devoted to acquisitions of sophisticated naval hardware.

The article carries no substance. Rupees $10Billion....what's that. If its Rs...then it will amount to $200million/year or $2.4Billion in 12 years. Too less. If its in $$ then the amount is greater than the annual Naval Budget. Who does he think he is kidding?

The article says 2 billion dollars per year for new capability , of that 70 percent will be for acquisitions so 1.4 billion dollars on average.

I think u wrongly understood ,actually 32 ships will be added b4 2020 a4 tat construction of 78 ships will commence and it may take 2030-2035 if it was taken with the help of some foreign shipyards and some more newly built shipyards like l&t near chennai(if added)

Why is adding 120 surface and undersea combatants in 10 years improbable? 12 abyear of different types of ships be frigates, destroyers, corvettes, subs or AC, it's possible. We are making them in different docks including foreign.

why are you guys leaving out the part where our older ships must be decommissioned? We need 120 ships in 10 years as we have to raise 3 battle group and 4 submarine groups. I think 120 is a possible number as all our shipyards are upgrading to modular construction.

No. Everything is part of the defence budget. 30-45% is always earmarked for new acquisitions every year. It's just that extra is spent every year which does not come in the official figures of the defence budget during parliament speeches.

The fact that he says China is "catching up fast" suggests that the author doesn't know what he's talking about. The Chinese navy is far larger than the Indian Navy. They are the only navy that is designed to fight the US due to the Taiwan conflict.

To make things worse, he says "Rupees $10 billion." What in the world does he mean by that? It seems like a hastily written article by someone who isn't grounded in reality.

Simply by allowing work on many parts of the ship at the same time. Mudular building would mean building blocks of the ship separately that when put together make the ship. Under non modular ship building many jobs would have a dependency on another job getting finished first. The list of such dependencies would fall substantially in modular building.

Meaning reducing the length of the critical path in CPM/PERT terminology.

They are also modernizing and the Russian labor is costlier than Indian labor. We can also try building in Bangladesh.
