Generally, any carrier based fighter which has Levcon/ Canard will have an advantage in short take off. Canard will help fighter to reduce landing speed. This sort of designs are more suitable for carriers particularly like us which are shorter in length compared to US carriers. After burner thrust is also very important to carrier based fighters compared to airforce fighters as the afterburner thrust helps in short take off. This factors becomes less important in huge carriers like the carriers of US.
Levcon/ Canard are basically very similar to LERX on aircraft. Their purpose is to increase lift at AoA because the vortex help prevent flow separation.

While both Rafale and F-18E/F have lift increasing device, one advantage that F-18 has is the wing sweep angle. The lesser the sweep angle, the more lift can be created at a given AoA. So F-18 can land at very slow speed. Of course, this also come with a cost, the high swept angle of Rafale make it more effecient at high speed (better acceleration and cruise speed)

Very nice. Cheers.

What I had said was that F/A18 has more powerful engines then the Rafale. You said in your above post that Rafale's engines are more powerful, I later corrected you by showing you how the F-18's GE-414 engine is more powerful than the Rafale's M-88 engine.
Ofcourse GE414 is more powerful. Where did I say that Rafale engines are more powerful?

Rafale with more powerful engine is the best Choice for Indian navy. No F 18.
Here you claimed that the Rafale's engines are more powerful than the F-18's engines after which I corrected you.

You are miss interpritng my post. I say Rafale with more powerful engine means upgraded M88 which france has planned.
Well I am talking about the current M-88 engine which generates both less dry thrust and afterburner thrust than the GE-414. I am not sure about an "upgraded" M-88. Will have to check on that.

INDIAN NAVY EVALUATING TRIAL REPORT OF RAFALE, F-18 FOR USD 5 BILLION FIGHTER JET DEAL
New Delhi:
In the USD 5 billion tenders to buy 26 combat aircraft, the report of the extensive trials of the French Rafale and American F-18 planes is being evaluated by the Indian Navy headquarters.

The aircraft is planned to be acquired under a government-to-government deal by the Navy for operations from its latest aircraft carrier INS Vikrant commissioned recently by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kochi.

"The extensive trial was held by a naval team in Goa for both the fighter aircraft Rafale and F-18. The report is with the headquarters and is being eventuated for final shortlisting," l government sources told ANI.

The evaluation is to see whether the aircraft has met the technical specifications of the naval requirements or not, they said.

The American aircraft are built for carriers weighing around one lakh tonnes while the French Rafale is made for 60,000 tonne-size carriers.

The Navy has MiG-29Ks which operate from the INS Vikramaditya and also don't have a very strong serviceability record and their numbers are considered to be sufficient only for one carrier.

The trial report would determine the winner of the competition which was earlier planned for around 57 planes but now has been reduced to 26 only.

The last time these two planes took part in an Indian tender, the Rafale had emerged as a winner but that deal could not be completed due to technical issues.

However, based on the final selection of the previous deal, the government acquired 36 Rafales which played a big role during the deployment against china in eastern Ladakh and other areas.

The American side has been claiming that it has improved the performance and capabilities of the plane compared to the last competition saying that they have met all requirements of the Indian Navy.

Chance of buying F 18 is reduced to 30% from 90%, and election coming up, next gov decide naval fighter deal, and dussault comes up with better deal, increasing chances of rafale.

INDIAN NAVY SHOWS INTEREST IN ACQUIRING BOEING SUPER HORNETS FIGHTER AIRCRAFT
Boeing has submitted details to the Indian Navy for assessment about the Super Hornets fighter aircraft produced by the company, a senior official of the firm has said. Boeing Defence, Space and Security, India business development head, Alain Garcia told PTI the company has handed over the details and the Indian Navy is also interested in acquiring six more P-8 patrol aircraft.

"Right now, we have submitted all of the information to the Indian Navy, for them to make an assessment. We are just ready and waiting for them to make a decision and an announcement to tell us where that stands," Garcia said at the ongoing Aero India-2023.

Regarding P-8 aircraft, Garcia said it has been a great platform for the Indian Navy.

"They have flown the (P-8) aircraft many hours over the years to a point where it's really benefiting their capability and maritime surveillance in patrol and anti-submarine capabilities," he added.

Garcia said along with P-8 aircraft, Boeing can also help with some more Apache helicopters.

He pointed out that the Indian Army has acquired six Apaches, and it is waiting for the first six to be delivered.

"That first one just rolled out of our assembly production line. We build all the Apache fuselages here in India in Hyderabad with joint venture with Tata called Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL)," the Boeing official added.

Regarding the call for 'self-reliant India', Garcia said there are a lot of avenues for it. Boeing has the largest facility outside the United States in Bengaluru with over 4,000 engineers, according to him. Apart from Bengaluru, the aviation company has 5,000 more employees in other parts of India.

"We are growing our footprint here even more and helping the Indian aerospace industry grow," Garcia said.

If India chooses rafale it will be good for china and pak because both countries will plan same tactics which will be made to counter iaf rafales so no headache for separate planning for mig 29 f 18 and rafales of iaf this will make easier job for indian opponents and F 18 is legendary record is unmatched by rafales they have proven their metal in all wars Iraq Syria Chechnya and other conflicts where rafales just did easy bombing missions on Libya and f 18 will have better EW suit than rafales and cheaper

Cabinet Committee on Security likely to seal Rafale-M deal today

It’s not over until the fat lady sings but since late 2022 when the IN made its report to the MoD the news has only been in one direction (Rafale) and these leaks must be based on something

‘significantly cheaper than IAF’s Rafale’

‘commonality’

these things the F18 fanboys simply never addressed despite their claim that the F18 was always the favourite
