This is the first time I am hearing about Next Generation Survey Vessels. Although it was mentioned by GRSE that they are expecting the RFP in 2025, I think they meant the RFI. The RFI will come in 2024 - 2025 followed by RFP.

As of now following are the confirmed vessels in the next generation series:
1. 06 Next Generation Missile Vessels.
2. 11 Next Generation OPV.
3. 08 Next Generation Corvettes.
4. 120 Next Generation FIC.
5. 21 Next Generation FAC

Following vessels are also expected to come:
1. 05 Next Generation Destroyers.
2. 05 Next Generation Survey Vessels.
3. 10 Next Generation Frigates

That black smoke is very visible. Vikramaditya is a mistake. We should have gone for homegrown carriers right in the very beginning and we would have had 3 carriers by now and moved on the next generation carrier.

With who's support ?
Its thanks to Vikramaditya, right now we are having IAC1, buying Vikramaditya, support in building IAC1, IAC1 aviation facilities , aircrafts etc were the part of very huge pgrm. FYI- IN need foreign help for LPD, Fleet replenishment oiler. No Vikramaditya means no IAC, or very very very very expensive French non nuclear version around 10billion $ plus. Look at the pics, Mig29 and Ka helios make them a true major aircraft carrier.
OR you can write both are mistakes - if you consider IAC1 aviation facilities especially lift, a major reason why I disapprove repeat order of IAC1.
IN need to fast track LPD and consider next IAC after TEDBF starts flying or we end up in another mistake.

We did not have any expertise in making one that time, and we were not that huge of economy to start building that time.

Vikki was the best deal one could get at that time. As the then Naval Chief said: Get me a new Carrier for $2-3B, we will buy one.

No it wasnt the best deal at the time
The Kitty Hawk was available too, with a full complement of F18C/D Hornets as well.
For much cheaper.

No Kitty Hawk's news broke much later - the offer was made roughly at the same time as the Gorshkov offer.
This has been cleared multiple times:
Kitty Hawk was never available to any country. Few newspapers circulated the rumors but US is never going to sell such carrier to any other nation.
They sunk it themselves rather than selling to us.

Why didn't we go for Kitty Hawk? Pricing? Maintenance issues? Hull life issues from service?

From 2008:

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates denies rumours that there are plans to sell the ageing aircraft carrier, which is set to be decommissioned next year, to India.
The United States has no plans to sell an ageing aircraft carrier to India, US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said
"I am aware of no such plans," Gates replied at the Shangri-La Dialogue forum of regional analysts, defence and security officials.

Carriers are federally protected military item and they are not to be sold to any nation including UK.

No it wasn't. That was a largely overblown media hype of something that never happened. US never did nor will it ever do made an offer to sell one of its non nuke aircraft carriers. The aircraft carriers are some of US's most prized and zealously guarded secrets. They will never let anyone, not even a NATO ally, get close to its A/C carrier secrets.

Based on the Russians' false promises, yes it was the best deal at that time. But if we had known the truth at that time, we would never had gone for it but gone for a homegrown carrier right in the beginning.
