In absence of dedicated LPDs, commercial freighters and shipping vessels can be repurposed to carry out amphibious operations. India does have a large fleet of those.
This JUGAD can come in handy in emergency situation.
a marine force is supposed to capture a beach head, how will they transit from a commercial ship to the beach?

WE really need to combine both Infantry Units in IA and Amphibious Ships in IN to be unified under one organisation, basically raising a Marine Corps!!
unique thing about U.S marine corps is that they come all things in one package, they have their own planes, infantry vehicles, tanks, ships.

more importantly, last time I checked marine corps is deployed because their cost of deployment for US DoD is less than infantry.

I’ll post the costing difference later, assuming the scenario remains the same.

A Texas-based Textron ammunition company recently unveiled its new 6.8mm cartridge to be used on the NGSW from 2022 and DRDO and Textron officials had a closed-door meeting on possible collaboration on the development of next-gen 6.8mm Cartridge under defense collaboration between U.S.-India, Defense Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI). US Army is switching from 5.56mm to 6.8mm rounds and DRDO already has developed a new assault rifle prototype chambered for 6.8×43 mm rounds and it will be ready for trial in the Infantry School located at Mhow soon.

Maybe we should start using 6.8x43mm cartridge as NATO follows what US does and hence 6.8x43mm will become a common ammunition for all needs and thats why DRDO had a meeting and suddenly their 6.8x43mm Assault Rifle comes into existence shows that India is thinking to buy 6.8x43mm assault rifles as it will be the future, who knows.

That telescoping case ammo is expensive as fuck to manufacture, even for US Army. I don't see the M4 going away anytime soon.

And 6.5 Grendel will be a good option, as AKs can be rechambered in it.

Thats the thing about US military in general!!
Every Armed Force under US Armed Forces are Autonomous in general, and every Armed Force have their own "Ground Unit", "Water Unit", "Air Unit"... So much so, US Army operates its own Amphibious Ships!!

Totally wrong. To the point of stupid. A green beret is the best operator out there, bar none. An IA infantryman could match up to a USMC infantryman, in terms of conditioning. And a green beret is a US Army Special Forces operator, not an infantryman. They are the guys who do unconventional warfare, more important than what any Marine does. MARSOC included.
MAN, like did you seriously even read my post??? I said USMC Infantrymen is given more important and difficult Tasks/Missions than a GB operator, In a literal sense USMC Infantrymen >> GB operator!!
Plus nobody denied that GB are not under US Army and are not a Special Unit!!

This is what happens when you have a military budget which is more than all the next 9 highest military spending countries combined. Also, why every thread devolves into comparison with USA? It's futile, there's no comparison considering the difference between the extent of resources available to both countries.

Both are equally both, there is no denial in that. But it's always that USMC infantrymen are trained in a way that, they are better than any Tier-2 operators in the US Military, simply put.

Pls explain in detail mate, not everyone knows how things work!!
Going by your logic, why the fuck are the GBs involved in every ongoing conflict directly?

They're in Syria, Afghanistan, Africa, you name it. Why did the US DoD use the green berets in all these places? They could've just told the Marines guarding their ammo depot to do what GBs are doing.

Heck why bother with Delta or ST6? They should have just sent the Marine security guards in US embassy in Pakistan to kill Osama. Same with Baghdadi. If only they had you as their advisor. They wouldn't have wasted so much money training USSOCOM and JSOC personnel.

Lol dude, if infantry could do all that, why do even the fucking MARINES have SOF??

But Marine SOF has only one unit, MARSOC and there are the Tier-1 operators in USSOCOM!!

Your point being?

Also, MARSOC is marine Spec Ops Command. They have Raiders as well outside of MARSOC. And other SOF Units within MARSOC.

US needs Marine core because they project power through sea and air. Hence the strongest Navy and the second strongest air force in the world. In addition to this they have Islands to protect: Guam, Diego Garica, Hawai, Japanese Island Chain, Philippines etc. Combine it with 10 aircraft carriers with 5k+ troops which are an island on their own. It serves their purpose, the same is not true for us right now maybe 20 years later.
We have Andaman, Lakshadeep, Maldives etc. In the future maybe seychelles, madagasacr, Mauritius, Oman.
Of course MIC is the key here u don't want to build your Marine corps with imported LHD, helis and ships.
The 800 billion that America spends is invested in their own economy, its basically like MNREGA to them except with positive balance sheet.
