India should keep upgrading its Act East policy and spend massively to build connectivity and trade with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. These are peace-loving countries and and are culturally close to India. This connectivity will later connect Indonesia, Malaysia ,Phillipines etc to India trade route.
As for West Asia, things are going to remain a hot mess for some years ...if there is war in Iran...the mess might remain for decades. West Asia is too risky for Indian investment. Look East and Act East.

Unfortunately, west Asia is source of our energy as well as our route to enter Central Asia & Europe in cheap ways. As our consumption grows, our production and exports rise, we will need a stable west Asia even if we have to intervene or get our boys killed in their wars.
East & SE Asia is getting way more well & self dependent, more like partners.

Markets where you can establish your monopoly and trade surplus only lie in Central & West Asia & Northern Africa. Coz they can afford reasonable amount but lack technological expertise or industrial sector to produce. But they are unstable. And till they remain unstable, India can't become rich easily.

India offers $5billion credit line to Nigeria – India’s High Commissioner to Nigeria says
Nigeria can now explore a $5billion low-interest credit line from India, according to the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria Abhay Thakur.
He said that the Prime Minister of India made available to Africa $10bn credit line during India – Africa Forum Summit out of which only fifty per cent had been utilised.
Thakur made the disclosure when he visited the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, according to a statement made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Monday.
The Indian envoy added that Nigeria had the opportunity to explore the credit line which had an interest rate of only 1.75 per cent.
“This is a good facility which to my knowledge half of it has just been utilised and for Nigeria, we can enhance our areas of collaboration,” the envoy said.
Thakur said India was making moves to upgrade the bilateral agreement existing between both countries in the areas of human capacity development, e-government, industrialisation and Information and Communications Technology.
Responding, Shittu said India was one of the best countries Nigeria had enjoyed a relationship with in terms of partnership.
Shittu said, “In the area of bilateral agreement, we can raise a team to work on crucial areas and look at the details and appraise what we can do on low hanging fruit that would be beneficial to both countries.
“A lot of Indian companies had often indicated interest to invest in Nigeria by way of establishing industries but rarely translate such into action, hence, the need to encourage them to translate such interest into reality.”
The minister called on the envoy to encourage India investors to establish a 5G village in Nigeria and also partner with stakeholders in building the proposed ICT Park in Abuja which is expected to be located in a free trade zone that would add beauty and elegance to the country as well as boost revenue base of the investors.

Hope that those are development loans and not grants. No one gives grants - though loans are effectively grants since very few pay back those loans.

India is one of the very few (maybe the only one) that has paid back all development loans.

Also I assume that that $28 billion is a cumulative figure and not last years number.

Most of the 28 billion $ is line of credit to various countries...

Which category “Line of credit” falls into, loans or grants?

Great. Line of credit is standard practice for a lot of development assistance. Line credit would typically fall into loans - though I suppose it is technically possible to offer a line of credit with a grant.

Called a grant, is a loan actually. Very soft loan.

Why isn't india spending more on Myanmar? Does China have so much of a lead that it's not worth it or is it international pressure?

43 billion to banglas. How is it still an Indian leaning partner?:hmm:

Too many missing updates from COVID-19 episode, just to troll further. Pakistan didn't get British vaccine produced in India. But a completely Indian vaccine by Indian drugmaker.
