Ya'll Nibbiars this is enough for a semiconductors like 90 NM or 40 NM but will cost 40 to 50 million dollars depending on the configuration. And would need atleat 1,000 crores initiql investment just around it's. A single unit will cost that much with the capacity of 30,000 waffer of The 200 NM now with four such units the investments is easily around 4,000 crores and can produce 1,200,000 wafers of 200 MM annually. But to produce on every larger scale higher investment is needed. The HSMC failed due to their extremely over ambitious plan's.

Even $1million dollar brings nervousness to Indian companies let alone talk about $10-50 Million.

Unless you guarantee them a contractual purchase of wafers for next 10 years, why would any one would invest.
Ya foreign players can come and setup here as they already have purchase orders for next 5 yrs in advance.

Ya there is a kind of Govt and a group of Pvt group ownership for ASML. Kind of a State secret which needs to be kept inside their country.

Not sure if you are trolling or serious!

ISRO is a space agency not a Chip manufacturer.

Ya'll Nibbiars No one will invest after the Chinese Semiconductor Industry collapse. Only an domestic company can do. As the Semiconductor industry has been consolidated by large players who don't want to take risk after the Chinese investment failures.

Ya'll Nibbiars The 10 billion dollars failures of the global foundries in China. After this the large Firms decided to rather invest in their countries than in risky markets. After all they are getting hugh subsidies to invest in their respective countries. And our PLI can't match that.

Ya'll Nibbiars The fanfare and optimism of 2006 was striking. Almost anybody who was somebody in the Indian semiconductor industry threw their weight behind SemIndia, a company formed in the US by Non Resident Indians (NRIs). The promoters tried to put together a consortium that would back India's first serious effort at chip manufacturing - the proposed plant in Hyderabad would cost $3 billion and the chips would feed Indian electronic products which the country's growing middle class was lapping up at a fast clip. Chipmaker AMD offered to transfer technology to SemIndia. Component suppliers and investors also lined up.

And then, within two years, everything collapsed the government incentives offered then were too little for a project this big. By 2009, the founding team led by CEO Vinod Agarwal exited SemIndia and the company shelved its fab dreams.

Ya’ll Nibbiars Na last time was asked said no. When the 2011 Semi conductors policy was made RIL was not interested. It's require huge investment and the margins are extremely thin like 3 percent's. And the jio is also not that much profitable. Seeing a net profit's which is extremely low.
