it makes all the sense to develop expertise within the country, tomorrow if apple and android start delisting Indian apps in their app store/play store in the name of political correctness, India will need to have a solution and expertise in hand to scale up. This is what china did, and US politics does not have leverage on chinese digital space because of this.
and i still feel, Indian industry should go for an consortium approach to develop these sort of digital tech like mobile OS, web browser, play store, web tech etc. a consortium or a company funded by all big mobile data/internet players in the country, ultimately it is their data products that gets consumed on mobile and desktop browsers.

otherwise the country will always be behind the curve on web technologies innovation.

EU as an institution funds such digital tech development for europe specific web applications.

Well say that a company makes a new os browser or a play store now you have to convince app developers and the general public to migrate to the new service that's why even microsoft couldn't crack the mobile market because no app developers actually made apps for their phones. For china this is easy because with government pressure change can be made involuntarily but considering how embedded we are with the big tech its seems quite a uphill challenge

paisa mein Parmatma

if big players back the initiative, rest will automatically follow. even AMD chips and google had to face hurdles initially before they got accepted globally.

In China I read somewhere that there is a big problem of too many players selling EVs in China, making the competition too stiff.
All in all it is good.

More the players, more deep and diverse the ecosystem.

It will create more innovation and good manufacturing practices, which will result in competitive prices for consumers and will have more choices.

Will make India competitive in future technologies.

All in all good for everybody.

GB/T 18487 is the national standard for plugs, all the charge stations by brands, by national power grid, by private companies using this universal standard, and if the Telsa is imported version, there is adaptor.

The battery sawp standard is also on the way, the NIO brand and coming EV trucks will apply it.

China approves national EV battery swap standards, report says

Made in India: Government planning to come with policy that fill facilitate creation of an Indeginous operating system as an alternative to Apple's iOS and Google's Android: MoS IT

At least they are started thinking about this also .
Hope its a fork rather than a new one.
IMHO, no point in recreating the entire ecosystem.
Hope some idiot does not go and convince of entirely new ABI so the existing tools right from gcc don't work either.
