Economic growth was okayish (7% +) till late 2018. NPA pile ups and the resulting banking sector crisis (UPA legacy) derailed the growth afterwards. India's economic slowdown did not originate due to many structural issues to begin with. Why do some folks always forget this here? It was recovering in Q4 FY 2019-20 but then the chinese virus struck and delayed it by a year.
a different perspective.

as of 2018 GDP, 1% point is 1.4 lakh crore.

Changes in Stocks fell by 104254 crores in 2019 compared to 2018
Exports fell by 26,055 crores in 2019 compared to 2018

So the top two causes were, stock market and exports, everything else will have to come after these if such a list is being created as what caused 4% growth in 2019.

If NPA was an issue, GFCF would have been impacted negatively, which is not the case.
On 2019 exports i had already made some posts earlier, that global exports were hit in 2019 pre-pandemic. Dec 2019 Trump Xi tariff deal happened, jan 2020 pandemic started. India First lockdown - 24th Mar 2020.

There could be no bigger virtue for a RWer to slap the realities on their faces.

Bc. someone called me a congress bhakt:hail::hail::crazy::crazy:

Ultimately, India is a country filled with low IQ losers who refuse to develop and love living in poverty. Until the Indian state heavily clamps down on these cretins and their instigators with a iron fist, this country will be left dealing with scraps. From talking about the Japanese and chinese model to now the vietnamese model, we will be talking about porki and raqibul model in 15 years time.

idiots like him should be given compulsory death sentences to prove a point .At some point, the indian state will have to ruthlessly push back anti development traitors at whatever cost or blood. Half the country currently is still literally worse off than sub-Saharan africa. Any one who dares utter "dEvElOpMeNt at wHaT cOsT" or hurr durr treeeeeeeeeeeees needs to be send to a gulag

We never were a export oriented economy though and even when we had a high growth rate 2014-16 export growth wasn't that remarkable

Added one more layer of corruption, bureaucracy and political power wrestling- that's all it did. Every Sarpanch buys atleast Scorpio SUV in his term😂
We are a poor country with all the shauk of a big developed nation- our love for democracy, our love for enviornment, our love for socialism, our love for labour laws, our penchant for non-alignment. We are too rich ideologically for our own survival

We won't see the type of Industrialization and growth that we want unless we provide complete hire and fire freedom to businesses regardless of number of employees. Secondly, law and order will have to be strengthened to prevent riots against every new factory that is being built, and for existing projects not to face riots like what happened with the iphone factory. If these two factors aren't achieved, even world class infrastructure won't solve the issue.

What's stopping the unions from starting a protest similar to the farms protests as soon a state election will come close the government will bend over backwards and take the law back

in that case, i am glad vietnam's exports are growing. they have FTA advantages and are fully utilising proximity to china as well as their exports to US.
Vietnam is again a media story like Bangladesh. Their value addition is just in single digit %. It is just another front for China like Hong Kong to reexport to United States which started in Trump era trade wars. Look at their trade surplus vs USA and trade deficit vs China. The real value is in owning IP and manufacturing or manufacturing high value goods read electronics manufacturing. Startup fund raising is another high value item. Modi has identified and is pushing for more investments in all the above domains. He is also not ignoring low value but high employment industry like Textiles, Leather, Footwear, Pharma.

HANOI, Jan 15 (Reuters): Vietnam reported a 19% growth in exports last year, as it saw its trade surplus with the United States, its largest export market, widening to an all time high, the government's official data has showed..
Vietnam's total exports came in at US$336.31 billion, while its imports rose 26.5% to US$332.23 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $4.08 billion, the Customs Department said in a statement.
Exports in December increased 8.5% from November to $34.59 billion, while imports were up 3.1% to US$31.62 billion, the department said.
The data showed Vietnam's trade surplus with the United States rose to US$81 billion from US$63 billion in the previous year, while its trade deficit with China widened to US$54 billion from US$35 billion.
The US is Vietnam's largest export market for such products as garments, electronics and smartphones.

Exports to the US. last year rose by a quarter to $96.3 billion.
China is Vietnam's largest trading partner, on which the South-East Asian country relies heavily for materials and equipment for its labour-intensive manufacturing. Imports from China rose 30% to $110 billion.

How it started.

How it is going.

That article regarding expansion of highways is somewhat correct. Instead of upgrading the 2-lane roads, had GoI made new parallel access controlled highways, we'd have tens of thousands of kms of motorways by 2022. Anyways after 20 years we've now realised this and buildings proper expressways. China never upgraded their old highways, they only made new expressways and saved tons of money. Even now their old 2 lane highways exist, mostly used by village folks.

Why not both? Land acquisition is fast, cheap and quick in coronaland; not the case in India. And it is not like India was putting all her eggs in a single basket. Vajpayee had plans of extensive expressways, inland waterways, railway upgradation and even HSRs; way back in 2000 itself. Yo @Haldilal billa.
