Well @IndianYonko I think in textile we need to focus on selective end product ,like rugs , curtains , they are sold at high rates , and we have some already present labour for it , labour cost fluctuations don't add much in it , and we can gain a major share in it

India is third largest exporter of rugs ,first being turks ,we need proper pr for our rugs brands and we can be number one ,Turkish rugs are considered one of the best ,not due to quality but due to presentation , they make it look expensive by good side stitching and border ,rest it's quality is same as indian ,

Is domestic component manufacturing and sourcing included as a pre condition in PLI scheme or just assembly?

Both can we done simultaneously. In India we can enough scope for these job too. for instance low income states can use manual/unskilled jobs and services can ve developed in high income states. We cannot look entire India through single lens.

When one refers to industries like this it is very important to look at the scale of supply chain.

Bangladesh has the advantage of FTA's and duty free exports meaning cost wise Indian suppliers won't be able to match their Bangladeshi counterparts.

Bangladesh produces simple apparel such as t-shirts, shirts in bulk while India manufactures superior quality woven and knitted products.

Simply put until and unless you want the govt to start subsidizing the textile market to lower costs it makes no sense to shift back to low quality readymade textiles.

Rather the focus should be on capturing the low level manufacturing market leaving China which the govt has been trying in the form of toy factories furniture phone and laptop parts etc.

There is a seperate scheme for this called SPECs.
With enough bitch and whine there probably will be a dedicated PLI for PCBs also.

Depends

You just cannot add mandatory localisation as you wish. It goes against WTO standards and you will be grilled there. China routinely violates various WTO provisions secretly but nobody does sh*t to them because they are China and have a lot of international bodies in their pockets. This is India and well ..... nobody cares.
