In A First, Concor To Start Using Made-In-India Containers As It Seeks To Cut Reliance On Chinese Imports
State run Container Corporation of India (Concor) will start the process to manufacture its containers in India, which will result in a lower reliance on Chinese imports, Financial Express has reported.
The good news is that although China produces 96% of the world's containers, since last year, because of the epidemic, there has been a global shortage of containers, a misallocation, not all the containers that left China have been returned..The price of containers has risen by half,It's a good chance to get in.

The amount of time Ola drivers cancel bookings during peak hours alone should drive them out of business.

Don't read too much into these rankings. There are some issues regarding with these rankings unique to India that just cannot be solved! While I agree that Indian universities need massive improvement and people need to look beyond engineering and MBA after 12th ( this strange fetish with IITs, NITs, IIMs, DTU, JU(Engg) needs to stop ASAP and we need more institutions like- IISc, IISER, NISER, TIFR, ISI, CMI etc); these rankings have their own shortcomings. There are reasons why Indian universities are not ranked higher. This requires a separate thread; will make it when I have time.
N.B.- A bit of info about myself: I studied in one of the 'so-called' best engineering institutes in India and did further study in a uni that ranks among the top 20 globally. So I have some basic knowledge about how these rankings are given. Will make a separate thread on it.
One thing govt can do is to bring central Universities in fields other than Engineering and medical at same level as IITs, IIMs and medical colleges. Once you know that the universities and colleges from other fields are also high in rankings and similar level to them then people will willingly join other courses and subjects too.

Currently there are colleges like Indian Statistical Institute which has competition more than UPSC and IIT and does pay high but hardly students know about it. Similar story for many other courses where people don't know if there exist any college for it or not in India.

These CMs are going mad over Metro projects, Every other city is not suitable for metro. it will take over 100-200 yr to recover cost for metro construction in these cities.
They should instead go for Metro Lite and Neo-metro systems which are much cheaper and easier to construct and run.
In many cities the metro is being constructed for only 2-3 lines which will be less than even 50KM with not much scope of any extension in far future, utter waste of thousands of crores just for 50-60KM lines.

All private jobs with salary less than 50,000 per month.

Thats greather than what an average IT guy earns a month.

You have to register at portal , then if you cant find suitable canditate approach gov babu , then he will look into it and decide what to do next.

And that too at 75% , not 25% or 5% .

All this completely goes against what Modi is trying to do at center.
I support this move, because Gurgaon will be reduced to a ghost-town, with billions flowing out to neighboring Noida/Greater Noida. Property prices will also tank, because now all Gurgaon residents will have to endure a 4-hour daily commute to Noida/Greater Noida.

Local press here in Hyderabad is reporting that our state government is planning an investor summit in Delhi Aero City to strike sweetheart deals with MNCs, to get them to relocate from Gurgaon to Hyderabad. Unless Gurgaon wallahs want to endure a 28-hour daily commute, they'll have to throw their freshly purchased 3 bhk to rent for scraps and move to Hyderabad.

Haryanvis asked for this. By not giving BJP a clear mandate, and tying Chautala to Khattar, you've forced them to come up with such BS.

Aur vote do jaati ke naam par, bajr-chutiyon.

They are not saying metro in the sense of a metro, obviously they’ll get a metro according to the city like Metrolite, MetroNEO or Monorail Metro.

we are interested to know why indian institutions don't rank higher, do write a post on it whenever you have time. appreciated.
Ranking is not done just on quality of education in these colleges or universities but it also consider the quality of infrastructure and campus area, involvement of corporates and companies in the campus, quality of research work, quality of faculty and also most importantly the equipment being used for research and the ease of ordering any new equipment and getting the equipment shipped to the colleges.

Bases solely on education the IITs regularly comes in list of Top 10 institute for engineering and IT. IIT-D, K, M comes in top 5 regularly and just behind MIT in that sense. However when you add points given for Campus infra, corporate involvement, papers being published, faculties, etc then the ranking topples below 100.
You cant compare the faculty in IITs with that even in Chinese Universities, Chinese universities are paying from 3 lacs per month to upwards of 10 lacs per month in equivalent of INR to their professors. You will see them filled with GORA professors and even Indian professors teaching there.
Here even wealthy private colleges are not willing to give even 1 Lac per month to any professor. We have IITs filled with so many of old professors teaching in outdated ways. Any new lab equipment here takes months just to get approval from Departments in IITs as they are always in fight to get the funds for them and after approval the equipment may take over 2 yr to reach the campus by time the student may have moved to another project already or may even got passed out of university.

I read account one some Alumini from IIT where they had requested for latest equipment for their research and that reached campus after 3 years by that time the student had passed out and joined one EU university and completed and published research paper already on the topic.

Chinese had set the standard that every city with 3M+ population will have metros. Then they increased that to cover 1.5M+ population cities as well. Ofc its China, so ROI might not really be a factor in these plans.

Looking at that, maybe every Indian city with 2M+ population should get a metro? Another thing to consider is that more of these urban folks would become able to buy personal vehicles as incomes rise in India. Maybe these Metro systems will preempt that vehicle explosion thereby controlling it?
