but wouldn't it make the products costlier and decrease competition.

also ikea is not chinese and actually provides good furniture at a reasonable price. Same with a lot of e vehicles air conditioners etc.
Most of the stuff IKEA sells is rebranded Made In China or made by Chinese owned vendor companies elsewhere.

This has been the norm for 20-30 years.

We are just waking up from our self induced 'vasudeva kutumbam' peace pipe high thanks to those 20 braves who lost their lives in Galwan.

Nobody cared for those who were nearly thrashed to their deaths in earlier face offs.

Satyavachan, Ikea is flop in China but most of their furniture which isn't made of real wood but instead of fibre/particle board/MDF is made in China by Chinese suppliers.

this fibre/particle board is a total scam material thoroughly unsuited to Indian conditions, and yet is peddled heavily in furniture shops here because it's cheap, and cheap sells.

Doesn't matter that it bends or breaks and the shitty paper pasted on it peels off in less than a year though thanks to moisture.

I believe 99% of kitchen cabinets are made of MDF. Some MDF's are OK. I have a couple of Made in Thailand MDF computer tables which have lasted over 15 years and are still going strong. Bought it for a paltry 3-4k. Full paisa vasool.

Meanwhile, the ready to install Made In China kitchen cabinets with expensive laminates are FUBAR.

China has learnt the art of packaging from the West and makes them nice & shiny. Enough for 5-6 bakras out of 10 to fall for it and that's more than enough to keep their factories running. Durability is given very little importance by Chinese manufacturers.

MDF is also used for what is called colloquially as "plywood" and also for this fibre/particle board scam material.

Online furniture walas especially do this jhol where they use "MDF" in the type of wood used section instead of saying Particle Board.

MDF is not plywood. Plywood uses wood veneers pasted with glue. While MDF uses wood chips or fibres dipped in glue and set hard into a board. While MDF may not be longlasting as ply or hardwood it is a partially recycled material because major component of particle board is wooden saw waste. So its a little easy on the enviornment.

Quality wise Ikea had never been the best in any category of products. Their only USP is the Do It yourself benefit of the products they offers.
Just buy ad assemble in your home yourself. However the quality is mostly Grade B and C for all products.
Years back Ikea used to buy stuff like Home Lampshades, Glasses, Tea cups and related items from Indian manufactures, however they moved this to Vietnam and other south Asian countries as they were offering much lower prices.

Toll revenue to touch Rs 1.34 lakh crore a year by 2025: Nitin Gadkari

I will have to make an app that converts rupee to dolles. Cant gauge the scale of value otherwise.
Anyways roughly 17 billion
For comparison our whole Transportation infra budget is 20 billion and that includes Rail. Almost half of road infra budget might be fulfilled by toll tax alone

Pakistan's GDP Growth rate in 2021: 0.5%
India's GDP growth rate in 2021: 11-12%

source: IMF

Paxtan's economy has stagnated: Foreign debt's interest payment eats up 94% of paxtan govt's revenue, very huge unemployment and inflation, pak fauj's rising defence budget, rising public debt, rising trade deficits, water scarcity, Gulf throwing out paxtanis which stops remittances, increasing poverty and Greylisted country and a 6 Billion dollar reko diq case lost (2.1% of paxtani economy)

India faced recession but will grow rapidly hence Paxtan will keep on dreaming to match yindoo baniyas one day. Our financial credentials were badly harmed this pandemic but will recover and are not too severe as like Pakistan.

Pakistan doesn't have money to build infrastructure or revive economy hence I can clearly say that paxtan's economy has stagnated. They don't have money to build infrastructure for 5G or EV charging stations and because of negligible growths in future no paxtani will be able to afford it etc, plus Imran now has to import 2 Billion dollars worth COVID-19 vaccine as they don't make it locally. Hence its very difficult to revive the economy for Paxtan.

Despite Tesla's entry (few elites will probably take a look at the chinese-manufactured and imported model 3s) and Gadkari's talks on EV, remains to be seen how much it will really pick up locally. With no local battery manufacturers it will be hard to make it viable. Mahindra has been doing it for donkey's years with nothing significant to show.
Even though using e-vehicles may not have any impact enviromentatlly since we are still dependent on coal for power generation, atleast it will reduce our crude imports. so hoping it will find traction soon.

Maybe its will be based off GEM.

GEM is for internal procurement (Goverment e market place)

its pretty big

As of November 2020, GeM has 6.48 lakh registered sellers and service providers out of which more than 1.56 lakh are micro and small sellers with a majority share of 57.54 per cent in the total order value placed through GeM.[SUP][24][/SUP]

As of November 2020, it has more than 16 lakh products in about 10,101 product categories, and it has 170 service categories.[SUP][24][/SUP]

sale volume looks low though - $10 billion in 4 years . amazon/flipkart probably pulls that much during big sale event. i guess maybe thats good thing , dont want gov babus spending too much money.
