Karnataka CM @BSYBJP's Big Bang Farm Reform: How Revoking Agri Land Sale Restriction To Non-Farmers Will Be A Game-Changer

Great study in far-left publication EPW on the hugely impactful role of PM-KISAN in driving farmers towards making productive investments/adopting agri tech and how PM-Kisan could break the cycle of intergenerational poverty/ low farmer incomes

A much delayed law change. Next step should to be lure in corporates into organised large-scale farming and we can see the land prices for both agri and non-agri uses mushrooming.

I was on a break from forumbazi . But it's too important a news. As it shows seriousness of govt to reduce imports.

We are not playing around this time. This govt will truly make us atmanirbhar. More such steps to come soon.

Customs duty on bamboo imports by agarbatti manufacturers hiked from 10% to 25% with immediate effect to encourage use of domestic bamboo for AatmaNirbhar Bharat. The 25% customs duty rate shall now uniformly apply to any import of bamboo, including by traders #AatmaNirbharDesh
Uniform rate will help in avoiding misuse and rates related disputes. This measure will benefit farmers immensely. MSME agarbatti manufacturers also to gain, as earlier only the large agarbatti manufacturers were able to import bamboo at lower rate @nsitharamanoffc@ianuragthakur

Why are we importing even bamboos? Bamboo cultivation is so easy and cheap.

Our China containment policy is going along well!

Do you know what STEC stands for? It stands for Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. Ltd.

Yes, you guessed right.

It's a Chinese multinational civil construction firm. Yesterday, it bagged the civil contract package 4 of Delhi-Meerut RRTS line.

They are now going to design and construct tunnels by TBM from near New Ashok Nagar DN Ramp to Sahibabad UP Ramp and One Under Ground Station at Anand Vihar by Cut & Cover Method on Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor.

This will Include:

1. Architectural Finishing and Design

2. Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of:

(a) Electrical and Mechanical Systems
(b) Fire detection & suppression Systems
(c) Hydraulic systems

Imagine!

A Chinese company working on our infrastructure at a time when things are so unsettled with China! How risky this project can be in terms of the nation's security! Indian company Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T) couldn't bag this contract because it bid Rs 1,170 crore.

Tata Projects Ltd.- SKEC JV couldn't bag this project because it bid Rs 1,346 crore. But Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. Ltd. (STEC) which bid Rs 1,126 crore, got it.

From the above figures we can see that L&T bid just 44 crore more than STEC. Apparently, आत्मनिर्भरता comes cheap in India. Only 44 crores! And all that talk by Modiji about being "Vocal about Local" is just hot air..Nothing else..

More here.....

If the GOI can't shell out 44 crore extra for the Nation's pride and security, does it have any right to ask us citizens to only buy local even though it pinches our purse? Fuk the tender system at least for now! And ban Chinese companies from bidding if you have to.

C’mon!! know very well that tender process takes months & years.

discourse might as well be about something to be done in the future rather than something already happened.

India may not be able to completely boycott Chinese products

Why not?
We have a large pool of skilled labour force and lots of technical institutes (ITIs, diplomas, etc) that can take on most of the products mentioned in the above list. Funding also may not be a problem if marketed properly under the comatose 'make-in-india' programme.

Don't have to leave WTO. We can impose such non tarrif barrier that makes things unprofitable for importers.
Once for a Pakistani product the only port of entry specified was Chennai.
These are actually dishonest practices, but then others do these to you, so you deserve the right to reply using the same method.

That's 400 million saved already just by one move.
Trader boycott will save 13 billion in single year. In 4-5 years we will turn the tide of manufacturing against china.

People thinking china will be 'hurt' by boycotting their end-products should read this minutely.

China will shrug off any boycott with near to no impact due to very less imports from india and insignificant exports too.

Secondly most chinese products are intermediate in nature (and not end-products), so indian manufacturers who use them to produce finished goods end up getting hurt.

Finally, indian consumers will have to settle for costlier non-chinese products or inferior indian products. Consumer is the net net loser.

Why banning trade with China will hurt India more

Trade war is always an emotional reponse, unless we are able to beat down the opponent by not buying from them. In Indo-china case, this is not the case.

Nope we are hurting by huge deficit. We have capability to scale up as much as china but due to Chinese dumping our industry is stagnant.

Boycott of china will only unleash our potential .

Indians will be hurt more by reading Indian Express. We should stop that first right now.
