you know right interest rates drive economy?
Reserve Bank does that actually
RBI or any other central bank should not give a shit about economic growth, there main purpose is controlling inflation. If there is no independence, then populist govt. will keep stimulating economy for short term gain to win election, and cause run away inflation in long term. Prime example is turkey, where Erdog fired a professional to hire a chamcha, so that he could do more and more rate cuts to benefit his funders in construction industry.

They do try to stimulate the economy sometimes.

"Quantitative easing can help bring the economy out of recession[6] and help ensure that inflation does not fall below the central bank's inflation target". So inflation is still their guiding light.
Quantitative easing aims to reduce inflation by injecting additional money into the economy, stimulating consumption and therefore leading to economic growth.

FYI preamble of RBI

"to regulate the issue of Bank notes and keeping of reserves with a view to securing monetary stability in India and generally to operate the currency and credit system of the country to its advantage; to have a modern monetary policy framework to meet the challenge of an increasingly complex economy, to maintain price stability while keeping in mind the objective of growth."

Crop has its own harvest cycles. Tur will be ready from January onwards so it will be imported then only
Good quality tur had breached Rs. 100/kg mid/end of '21 amid shortages.

Wonder which harvest cycle they were waiting for.

Back then, the argument put forth by the government was - 'people should switch to moong dal, chana dal etc if tur dal is expensive'.

So the K shaped growth told by libbus is in fact the truth. Rural india is still struggling which is unsurprising, considering how little investment is done to bring them to the middle class. Instead every politician in every party is giving them freebies so that they will remain poor 10 years from now and the cycle repeats.
We sure rural India hasn't switched to cheaper alternatives?

There are tons of local brands available at district and state level which become quite competitive when branded FMCG products become too expensive or the buyer gets too little for the same price(less volume as was confessed by top FMCG brands).

Govt despite its best intentions cannot take industry and enterprise to every door like they did with electricity though. People need to figure out, talk to their netas, local leaders who have their welfare in their mind too.

Majority of India is dependent on agriculture and once people land a job, they will remain there till they either retire, switch jobs or are forced to quit because of unforeseen circumstances.

I guess people like me & many others who haven't 'experienced' grinding poverty but only witnessed it from the comfort as spectators and being empathetic at best would agree in the absence of a better alternative, free food and some freebies will keep them going a little longer.

Harvest cycle of Tur is between January to April. The problem with Toor is that it's area under cultivation hasn't increased to fulfill the demand of the growing population. While we have excess of foodgrains like wheat, Paddy and crops like sugarcane are grown in excess to fuel export demand, production of Toor is insufficient. Govt can try to fulfill the demand supply gap by import, mainly from African countries, due to effect of El Nino and adverse weather the crop failed or damaged in those countries as well. So the only solution is to switch to other pulses which are in ample supply such as Chana, Moong and Masoor.

India will remain the fastest-growing major economy for at least the next three years, setting it on course to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2030, S&P.
like in the west, economic prosperity brings along with it an ageing population. Increasing % of population on welfare funded by an ever shrinking tax-paying population. This will hit us also eventually.

India's elderly population is predicted to double to 20.8% by 2050, with the number reaching 36% by the end of the century, according to a report by the United Nations Population Fund and the International Institute for Population Sciences.

"Our channel checks and industry interactions indicate that October demand trends remained similar to Q2 as festive growth pick-up did not materialise as expected," Jefferies’ analysts wrote in a note.
The rural downturn persists, exacerbated by the discernible effects of a deficient monsoon, further compounded by the additional challenge of declining real wages. “The competition continues to stay high, which should reflect in ad-spends. Put together, the near-term outlook for HUL remains weak. We stay on the sidelines," the brokerage firm added.
In terms of competition, analysts note that the revival of local and regional players poses a challenge. Consequently, the larger players, such as HUL, are expected to experience slower volume growth compared to the overall industry during the December quarter.

was about to mention this, but was written in the article itself.
apparently fogg has displaced axe (HUL product) as market leader in body spray. must be happening in other product categories as well.

and what are the chances woke ads are diminishing HUL's sales?
