Yep, agree on this. When we have in-house manufacturers, we shouldn't encourage kit assembly. We should focus on capturing entire value chain, since this is going to be a critical sector for our economy!!

This rebadge game was also going on in two wheeler industry but the Government caught their scam red handed and forced them to pay back their fame 2 subsidies. It appeared that during testing they sent scooters which was made using Indian components so the government purchased second hand scooters from existing customers and found that the scooter was made of low quality chinese components and thus their bluff was caught. Now two wheerler EVs are mainly dominated by brands like Ola, Ather, TVS, Bajaj, Vida which are genuine made in India. Can't understand why same is not happening in buses.
