The problem with India is we only hear higher end people rather than low rank people.

Company managers, CEO are the sole reason for toxic environment in offices in India. These people are most unemployable people on earth and yet get mostly heard by media and society.

One can not work for 1 year in Indian company under these managers we want employees to do research which takes years. Find a office where Managers are focusing on academics rather than inviting female colleagues for Samosa party in cabin.

This is totally wrong assumption that India do not have talent, education, competent people for research. Totally wrong assumption.

business model in India largely based on Dalaali model than self sustainability.

issue is more fundamental than that, since we only a few decades into economic liberalisation, market has not fully moved into investing in the futures. by futures in this case, means future tech. when market starts investing in futures, a part of that money will go into R&D of that particular future tech, since there are a set of people who are personally investing in getting rich tomorrow or day after when their bet pays off, and there are another set of people (academics, scientists and engineers) who make a living out of it today from the futures investment. ofcourse there is a high element of risk, out of 100 such investments, only one may succeed.

donno if there is any literature on India specific scenarios, in this case. some times i wonder if market knows that R&D in India is much cheaper than in U.S or EU.

because of the purchasing power parity they get flashy things like this to justify the "futures" investment.

and in India, we build things like this. essentially doing the same thing.

UP has a long way to go.The State is still a least developed region with very low HDI and a per capita income of less than $1000.It will take them at least 15 to 20 years before they reach any reasonable level.

Although Odisha has improved by leaps and bounds but now things are stagnating. No job creation is happening and no new industries are coming up.

As for Bihar,

And mind you this is the second time the Bridge has collapsed.
The construction is being done be SP Singla, which is a major infra company. Does Bihar have this "syndicate" issue (like WB), where contractors have to procure low quality materials from local sources netas of ruling party?

Yes, Bihar is known for bridge collapses. For this reason only.

No appetite to invest in risky ventures
No "need" either since this is a poor country where anything "good enough" with a cheap cost sells.

Also these domestic companies don't compete globally, that's another aspect, they are large bullfrogs in the well called Bharat, unconcerned about the larger world apart from stashing their wealth in London and Switzerland

In the future as the prosperity of the average guy increases perhaps he will ask for better products and be willing to pay for the same also.

Another assembly plant it seems
This is a chinky brand, you are only getting local assembly because govt slaps 20% import duty on every CBU phone that they import, which eat's into chinky profits.
Also this is just a brand, they will probably rope in foxconn or dixon to assemble their NOTHING phone :bplease:

British brand run by chinks, and anyway we need to incentivise the production of smartphones for global export competition even if its "Nothing".

It appears to be the case, SP Singla has a good track record of building so many river bridges.
Yet this case is quite baffling. The bridge has been under construction since 2014 and it took them 8 years to build the bridge only for it to succumb to heavy winds in 2022 and again yesterday and in the process Rs 1700 went down the drains.

The larger question is what is happening in Bihar. Despite economic liberalization for almost 30 years and no internal conflict or civil war, The Living standards and human development indices are at par with war-torn Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan and North Korea.

Even worse, their per capita GDP is worse than the poorest places on earth, yet multiplying like rabbits.
This is when they're a part of India and have access to a big market to cater to and send millions upon millions of people as labourers to as far as villages in Arunachal, J&K, Tamil Nadu and where not. And the billions in handouts they get from central government while their own tax collection being negligible.

No they don't. SP singla is probably one of the world's worst bridge builders. Every one of their big bridge projects are massively delayed, have big quality issues or have collapsed during construction. Even in states like Gujarat their bridge projects are running 3 years behind schedule. The company needs to be blacklisted and their heads arrested for wasting public money

Indian work environment is extremely toxic, the office space is filled with Machiavellis. No wonder talented people do not stay there for long.

Just yesterday a video went viral of a HDFC bank cluster head abusing his juniors and the video is a short demonstration of how difficult is it to work in an Indian environment.

Unnecessary Office Politics, even when there is no need for one.

Every Indian Manager is trying to show: I can bring in profits even when the account is in green.

Also, after a decade of IT experience:
People claimed Southern engineers are very professional: Wrong!
They are the worst politics doers in the IT industry.

This thread in Team-BhP , though not directly related but tells you what happens to people with more than decade and half experience. https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifting-gears/198522-plight-professionals-their-40s.html

IT as a career is only suitable for few as long term. But for majority, struggle and stagnation increases with experience. People literally shave off 5 or more years off their resume, even to get call. With this scenario, holding existing position becomes very crucial for them.
