India's GDP growth to be impacted by international commodity prices and growing CAD.

Meanwhile ASEAN is growing faster and faster :

Modi doesn't have an iq high enough to care about such matters. This is why surrounding yourself with yes-men is a big disaster. Who knows what tai is doing.

The unctad report does not mention Vietnam.
And the nikkei article does not mention India.
Why are you making this comparison ?
India growth forecast is still 7% + .
Vietnam has positioned itself to integrate with Chinese manufacturers .. An option that we do not have.

There aren't turning they already are.
Yes but the pace is very fast I mean damn fast
What I meant to say was that they are turning their ecosystem more robust and improving supply chain significantly

Vietnam manufacturing output as same as India's
I mean export
They are slowly turning themselves into manufacturing ecosystem
Yes and no. Vietnam's population is around 100 million. They have a ceiling beyond which they can't grow their manufacturing. Once labor gets expensive they will become uncompetitive. For now Vietnam has got everything going for them. So they will grow at higher rates.

They are part of ASEAN + east asia ecosystem, so its much larger than 100 million. If vietnam can rise to 15k-20k USD per capita, it will be a major regional power with 1.5-2 trillion USD economy and that too with high value addition and manufacturing base (unlike Indonesia which like Brazil has huge contribution by commodities to its economy).

Their labor force is just 60 million. How much manufacturing they can absorb with that population? There is a limit, right? Compare this to EU. Germany is a manufacturing powerhouse because of it's population. Can you say the same about Poland, Czechia and other EU countries even with access to entire EU market?

1 billion worth iPhone exported in 5 months :india2:
This is only the start . And we should get more friendly with Taiwan to get more of their contract manufacturers.
A bit of perspective from the article.
To be sure, India is still far behind China. About 3 million iPhones were made in India last year, compared with 230 million in China, according to Bloomberg Intelligence estimates
But moving out of China, where Apple has built a deep supply chain for close to two decades, isn’t easy. A Bloomberg Intelligence analysis estimated it would take about eight years to move just 10% of Apple’s production capacity out of China, where roughly 98% of the company’s iPhones are being made.

Yes, but they don't have the same industrial might as Germany in terms of Intellectual property rights and technical know how. Vietnam will flourish as long as they have something to offer. But there is only so much they can offer. Even their domestic market is not that big.

(I think) a fair critique of ecnomic policy. A few points
  • Still a freebie-for-votes and short election cycles hampering economic growth
  • Currency depreciation not neccessarily a bad thing - should aid exports and tourism but that's lacking for other reasons

Lots of people on this forum are comparing India to other countries in a defeatist way. They don’t realize that the secret to success is not fretting about what others are doing but the focus on competing against yourself. All these comparisons to Vietnam are moot. We shouldn’t have a bias towards actions because Vietnam is doing something. We should have a bias towards action because we want to improve ourselves. This is the key to achieving high growth rates not mimicking policies that other countries are doing. I feel like this is the mistake with Indian psyche. Always seeking validation or assurance, when we should really be focused on competing with ourselves. The best olympians don’t compete with 2nd place, they try to beat their own times. Same applies here, we need a change of mindset to instill confidence and a bias towards action.

Ya'll Nibbiars

The Shaktimaan First film has a production budget of 450 crores and the actor is also chosen.

The Mukesh khanna have prepared the story of the film in th3 own way. And only condition to them was that they wouldn't change the story. And People ask who will become Shaktimaan?. This is also a very big question in itself, which the mukesh Khanna didnt answered, but it is also certain that the actor is chosen. The digital sets, Miniatures sets, Matte paintings, CGIs wouldn't be used but on sitee shooting will be done to get the realistic feel unlike recent films trying to created all scene on a set. The production budget is 450 crores.

And in the film Mukesh khanna will guide a new shaktimaan.
