The Estimates both by the industry and the sugar commissioner’s office had put the cane availability of the state to 1,096 lakh tonnes with sugar production being at 112 lakh tonnes. Around 15 lakh tonnes of sugar is expected to be diverted for production of ethanol as the state is expected to produce 120 crore litres of the fuel additive. The India’s sugar exports could have touched the 70 lakh tonnes mark but Pawar felt the central government will pull in stops at 60 lakh tonnes. Exports more than 60 lakh tonnes might see inflation setting in at retail consumer markets.

The unit will use sugarcane juice and Biosyrup as raw materials based on technology supplied by Praj Industries. At full capacity, Swaraj will become the largest capacity plant to produce Ethanol in India and Asia. The Swaraj Green Power & Fuel will set up Asia’s largest ethanol production unit at Phaltan Satara in Maharashtra. The plant’s targeted capacity will be 1,100 kilolitres per day KLPD.

In the first stage, it will have a capacity of 500 kilolitres per day KLPD and in the second, the capacity would be enhanced to 1,100 KLPD. The unit will use sugarcane juice and Biosyrup as raw materials based on technology supplied by Praj Industries. At full capacity, Swaraj will become the largest capacity plant to produce Ethanol in India and Asia.

The company invested US$125m to install a new fueling system's, waste heat recovery WHR plant and solar power plant at the facility. It acquired the plant from Murli Industries for US$55.2m in 2020.

The new commissioning brings Dalmia Cement Bharat's total installed capacity to 35.9Mt/Year.

The only way is to let the sugar industries die in pockets and increase MSP for other crops. Sugarcane is the easiest crop to grow otherwise- sow it once, reap it once a year. And sugar cane has better output and rate than other crops. Well some farmers tried to experiment with other crops. But the rate of return much lower than the sugarcanes. And the sugarcane is only suitable for sugarcane mostly here. The other crops options is limited here.

Private factories don't get the loan and other capital facilities from the government but FRP and transportation costs are still borne by the government.
And we import oilseeds and pulses and the MSP trend for them has been abysmal (not to mention the fact that actual procurement of these crops doesn't happen at a lot of APMCs anyway)
