Food for thought.

Is it damn near impossible for a land locked state to have Robust industrial sector.
What should the growth model of landlocked State look like.
I am talking about MP, Bihar, UP, Rajasthan
Bihar, eastern UP, Jharkhand, eastern MP need easy port access. Bengal and Odisha need to build greenfield deep sea ports. DFC and Bharatmala will do their share of heavy lifting.

Despite the jokes we often make on @Chandragupt Maurya 's posts inland waterways are actually very efficient reducing logistical costs.

Niti Ayog plans to link eastern UP, Bihar, Jharkhand with Kolkata through highways, expressways, DFC, inland waterways and subsequently to the upcoming ports of Bengal and Odisha.

Solution to their land locked status is expressways and dedicated freight corridor.

DFC will connect rajsthan to gujrat and Mumbai. So will delhi mumbai expressway.

Jabalpur in mp is just 4 hours away from Nagpur which in turn is being connected to Mumbai via expressway. (7 hrs travel time).

So overnight goods can reach from MP to Mumbai.

Similarly bihar can access west bengal.

Other obvious option is that these states need to focus on domestic consumption more than exports. They are afterall massively populated and will drive domestic consumption in future. Let the coastal state focus more on exports and internal states on domestic food / cloths / consumer goods / FMCG etc .

Only partially true. India's eastern states have been battling insurgency and local law and order issues for decades. Maoists, Naxals, CPIM's horrors, Lalu's jungle raj and what not! Who would set up industries there? It is only now the case that insurgency has mostly fizzled out and law and order is no more that big of an issue (barring maybe some pockets of Bengal). To blame it all on freight equalisation is criminal generalisation. Bengal and Odisha are coastal states; why could not they compete with the likes of Guj, Maha, AP, Kar and TN? Now infrastaructure should be built, EoDB should be accelerated and industries should be allowed to operate freely.

Mining activities should NOT be left to states. There was a reason why this sector is being reformed incrementally. State governments are incompetent and cannot effectively regulate mining activities.
It's majorly due to the "Laal Jhanda" politics mired with casteism. You cannot get a file ahead in Bihar without the clerks to officer knowing your caste (and no being the "upper" caste is not always beneficial, it's very detrimental there)

+ Labour intensive industries like garments manufacturing, agro products on the models of Asian tigers(for that to be feasible, govt has to work Linking mgnrega to SME employment however)

Bihar has unique location specific advantage because of its proximity to the vast markets of eastern and northern India, access to ports such as Kolkata and Haldia, and to raw material sources and mineral reserves from the neighbouring states.
beside that i believe that in future a significant amount of trade between india and china/south east asia will also pass via Bihar because the technology is improving and someday china and india will be able to lay railway lines and expressways to connect delhi and Beijing just like delhi bangkok highway (India Myanmar Thailand trilateral Highway) is being planned

It's one of the biggest L we have recieved.
Bengal and Odisha are coastal states why can't they
Because Wetsern coasts is geographically closer to then booming oil industry and western and middle eastern market's, meanwhile there are poor south asian countries on eastern end.

The decline of bihar actually started after mutiny of 1857 when the Bihar regiment (Jharkhand , Odisha Chhattisgarh included) revolted against the British Empire but the punjab , sikh , jatt and gurkha regiment sided with the British and that was the time when british decided to punish Bihar and reward Punjab they bought permanent settlement act to loot farmers of Bihar , UP , Jharakhand , Bengal etc
and since the indian governemnet inherited the policies from britain they continued to make discriminatory policies against East

Ya'll Nibbiars that is clearly BS and nothing the onus falls totally on the state governments for falling.

This are all excuses by the state governments to hide their mistakes.

@Maharaj skandgupta
if a country is colonised by foreign power and people of that country revolt against the foreign power but some people in the same country decide to play safe and cash this opportunity by siding with the foreign power what would you call these people ?
