India registered its highest ever annual FDI Inflow of US $81.72 billion during the last financial year 2020-21

Make in India is an initiative which was launched on 25thSeptember, 2014 to facilitate investment, foster innovation, build best in class infrastructure, and make India a hub for manufacturing, design, and innovation. Development of a robust manufacturing sector continues to be a key priority of the Indian Government. It was one of the first 'Vocal for Local' initiatives that exposed India's manufacturing domain to the world. The sector has the potential to not only take economic growth to a higher trajectory but also to provide employment to a large pool of our young labour force.

Make in India initiative has made significant achievements and presently focuses on 27 sectors under Make in India 2.0. Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade is coordinating action plans for manufacturing sector, while Department of Commerce is coordinating service sector.

Activities under Make in India initiative are being undertaken by several Central and State Government departments from time to time. Programme specific data of such activities and details of foreign companies are not centrally maintained.

India has registered its highest ever annual FDI Inflow of US$ 81.72 billion (provisional figure) during the last financial year 2020-21 as compared to US$ 45.15 billion in 2014-2015. In the last seven financial years (2014-20), India has received FDI inflow worth US$ 440.01 billion which is 58 percent of the FDI reported in the last 21 years (US$ 763.58 billion). Year wise FDI inflow since 2014 is given in below table:

Export of Drug Formulations and Biologics registers continuous growth over past three years
The measures taken by Department of Commerce to promote exports include various schemes under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), assistance under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) scheme, setting up district export hubs, Transport and Market Assistance Scheme etc. Trade delegations/buyer-seller meets with various countries are regularly organized for the benefit of exporters. Airfare support is also provided to the exporters with a turnover of Rs.30 crore and below to encourage participation in business delegations/trade fairs.

The quantum of pharmaceutical exports of past three years, category-wise is as under:

Department of Commerce, in partnership with other stakeholders, is working towards boosting our presence in under penetrated/potential international markets viz. North East Asia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, South East Asia etc. The Department is also actively taking up with MoHFW/CDSCO for promotion of newer products such as gene therapy, bio-similars, and specialty drugs to drive the next phase of export growth.

The Shendra Bidkin Industrial Area SBIA in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, one of the industrial nodes on Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor DMIC has attracted investment of over Rs 6,500 crore and is likely to create 7.5 lakh employment opportunities. The DMIC is one of the most ambitious infrastructure programmes aiming to develop new industrial cities as Smart Cities and converging next-generation technologies across infrastructure sectors.

The two nodes in Maharashtra on DMIC include Shendra Bidkin Industrial Area and Dighi Port Industrial Area. The Shendra industrial area is already operational. The Bidkin and Dighi Port industrial areas are still under construction. The Maharashtra government has transferred the entire 8.39 sq km of land to the special purpose vehicle SPV named Aurangabad Industrial Township in Shendra. The matching equity of Rs 602.80 crore has been released by the Centre through National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust NICDIT.

Major trunk infrastructure works are completed with 93 plots allotted, including allotment of 100 acre to major investors like a South Korean company Hyosung. An investment of over Rs 6,500 crore has been attracted in this area. In Bidkin Industrial Area out of a total 32 sq km, the Maharashtra government has transferred 28.8 sq km and matching equity of Rs 2,397.20 crore has been released by the Centre. Trunk infrastructure works here are nearing completion. As per development plan, direct-indirect employment generation potential for SBIA is approximately 7.5 lakh.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has confirmed the availability of 5,935 acre of land for Dighi Industrial Area Raigad district. Of this 3,622 acre is in possession of the state government. Detailed master planning and preliminary engineering for the land parcels have been initiated. As per the development plan, employment generation potential for Dighi Industrial Area is approximately 3.2 lakh.

Ya'll Nibbiars only Tamil Nadu has frame work policy for 15 Industries metioned. Maharshtra, Karnataka and Andhr Pardsh are also framing the policies to cover all the industries metioned. While Gujarat is only targeting specific sectors not all. UP is the most industrialized state in the North with 8 sectors targeted. Bihar, WB, Jharkhand, Chhattigarh, Odisha and Punjab are not even trying.

Most of the industries in Uttar Prdesh are in Delhi NCR (Noida , Greater Noida and Ghaziabad) same with Haryana most of the industries are in gurgaon

But how come GDP of Kanpur (6.5 billion dollars) is way lower than Noida (19.6 billion dollars) and Patna (21.5 billion dollars)
