You mean 5.45*39 mm Soviet round?
Nope. I mean 5.56*45mm NATO. Look at the width and shape of the mag and then the bullets themselves. Those are M193 55gr ball bullets. The color of the brass case on those is pretty distinctive.

Many misconceptions are there. First is there is no AK-56. It is a Type 56, which was a Chinese clone of AK 47 type 3. This clone became an export success.

What is found with the terrorist are clones of the type 56, by local gunsmiths of in KPK tribal region.
Again, those are just AK based rifles. Not copies of Type-56. They make AKs with M4 feeding systems, super weird guns with AK lower/upper reciever etc. Ingenious if you ask me.

Nice observation.
Pakis tribals are ingenious indeed. The only known legitimate AK variant in 5.56 NATO is Polish Beryl rifle, though it is not a hybrid of AK nd M4.

There are many 5.56mm AK variants. AK-101, 102, 201, 202 from Kalashnikov concern, Galil, INSAS, etc. Beryl is the only NATO Kalashnikov in 5.56mm. Only NATO AK in any caliber for that matter.
