IA should get Strykers manufactured by Tata which in turn will help Tata to produce better platforms.

Army to choose from Tata, American Stryker and Humvee for its armoured protection vehicle requirements
New Delhi [India], Aug 4 : Seeking to provide highly mobile armoured protection vehicles to its soldiers in high altitude terrains like Eastern Ladakh, the Indian Army is looking to choose from three different vehicles including the indigenous Tata Wheeled Armoured Protection along with American Stryker Infantry Combat Vehicle and Humvee.

The Indian Army has a need for armoured infantry combat vehicles for quick movement of troops in the Eastern Ladakh area where the Chinese have deployed their armoured personnel carriers in large numbers. The force is looking at the three options which include the Tata WhAP and the American Stryker and Humvee, defence sources told ANI.
The options are being evaluated by the force at the moment and a decision in this regard would be taken soon, they said.

Sources said during the evaluation process, the indigenous platform would certainly have preference over the foreign products in meeting the requirements of the Army.

While the Tata vehicle is yet to enter service, the Stryker and Humvee have been part of the American defence forces for a long time now.

Tata WhAP, which has been co-developed with a DRDO laboratory, has undergone several trials in recent times including high altitude tests.

The Strykers and Humvee are reportedly capable of being dropped from transport aircraft including the C-130J and the C-17s which are also operated by the Indian Air Force.

During the ongoing standoff with the Chinese in Eastern Ladakh, the Chinese troops had come to the Line of Actual Control at multiple points including Galwan Valley, Hot Springs, Gogra and Patrolling Point 15 using heavy vehicles including Armoured Personnel Carriers.

The Indian Army uses a large number of Russian-origin BMP infantry combat vehicles, which are used by the Mechanised Infantry regiments of the Indian Army in deserts, plains, and high altitude locations. (ANI)

If WhAP meets all the badic requirement then why even have a contest.
This just goes to show that the MOD and Army top brass still love their imported maal, once the current gov changs they will be back to their usual ways.

And how come the gov doesn't kick out offices who blatantly shill for foreign products.

What should I say...

Those are requirements of DPP and financial rules of GoI which are framed by CAG of India that single vendor purchases will not be carried out. There has to be competitive bidding and many proposals have to be examined and compared..
All Financial transaction of Goi has to be carried out according to Finacial Rules and MoD is not any exception..
Why badmouth MoD on that issue which is not their making... How will MoD reach on a fair price? Is TATA Dodh Ka Nahya that they will not quote exorbitant price. That way we will revert back to the "Ambassador" era.

The Child is still in father's mind and mothers desire and people have started lobbying on unprincipled grounds..

The concern is not about whether WhAP is capable platform or not , but wether the MOD will give it a fare chance , considering the import lobby .
If it is not capable platform then why should it be given a chance... because you say so ... pare hat. Unnecessarily spoiling the thread.

Better than a fully imported platform , and I support domestic product .
By all means. You must support. But that does not entitle to be irresponsible enough to raise wild allegations and baseless charges on others..

I for one do not support any product even if homemade that will ensure defeat of our soldiers at the hand of our enemies.. Wars are not meant for and worth Baniya's profits... what is the use of equipping our soldiers with a Baniya product that will lead to the Bania's shop being closed under foreign subjugation. Wars are meant and fought to ensure our Independence and TATA comes on the top of list of the beneficiary of that independence..

Do you understand things..

Thanks for your insight , I am not blaming any one just concern when we will become a domestic weapons manufacturer that all's .
Whose fault is that... >>
Indian Army lugged a dunda called INSAS for 30 years and kept crying for its improvement... did anyone hear ??

Just look at Indian Army equipment - all our MGs, Mortars, rocket launchers, guns, and the entire range of ammunition - all are of WWI and WWII vintage, the so-called domestic production... Indian Army still fires a mortar bomb that was prevalent in WWII and that turns rogue...

The entire country has risen in economic prosperity and standard of living. We as on the day still give WWI standard uniforms to our soldiers., Our soldiers continue to be paid at the scales of peon... our ration scale is of the standard of WWI British scale of atta and dal. What have we given to our soldiers - neither better arms and ammunition nor a better standard of living..

In the name of Indigenous capabilities we are sustaining 90 labs, 31 factories and five DPSUs as white elephants and paying them out of Defense Services estimates.. and they continue to fart around for the last half a decade not even able to make a reliable 5.56 ammunition. Their fuzes automatically actuate, their bombs ooze out TNT explosive, their paras do not open and today India is forced to import arctic tents... arctic tents ... just horrible ...

They make a tank which is garage queen since its production and invent a gun which is good five-ton more in weight so that it is not towable anywhere.. they can not make 155 mm shells beyond two varieties.. and that too so faulty that foreign vendors refuse to use that because it bursts inside the barrels...

Where have we landed man...

Chinese are very kind that they only show you eyes.. with this state of affairs they can reach Delhi... Have no doubt..

Strykers are not amphibious. Strykers do not work in a desert environment at all.

The Humvee is nowhere close to an APC.

Why even include these two platforms to be considered?

As long as the engines are Indian made, and the platform is Indian made, there should be no problem if the subsystems or the entire turret is imported.
