Ah, so that's why it rocks on firing... It's probably lighter than 47t Al Khalid. If frontal armour 700mm with ERA that means composite is some 500mm thick max.
However with (confirmed) 1200hp engine it should be crazy fast.

Any idea what's the hull armour layout of these Chink tanks?.. Looks completely different from T-72/80/90 etc.

Also means the claimed penetration of 700mm at 3km is probably true... and let's face it, they were never getting T-90, but VT-4 beat T-84 Oplot in 2 seperate tender competitions (Paki & Thai).
I highly doubt that 700 mm at 3 km crap!! Seriously, even rounds like M 829A2s do not posses such level of armor penetration at such levels, and to think the Chinese round could do that with just two-third of the rod length is beyond rediculous.

Most powerful round currently in our inventory is of arjun with penetration of 600mm.

It's always funny seeing people comparing tanks based on absolute numbers ...Armour width, Engine horsepower, Sensors, APS, etc., and those damn lines ...10° 15° 20° color coded lines .

Oh great!.. After AK-1 they just inducted VT-4 yesterday. 😐
And unlike the former which was a subsystems upgrade, this platform has much better armour, firepower & mobility than everything we got. Literally, every single spec is better than that of every single Indian tank... Even the weak flank armour of AK has been addressed.

That part is incorrect. The base armor is still just ~8 cm of RHA but it's got ERA tiles covering part of the turret sides but they do not extend towards the back far enough to cover the entire crew compartment. The rest of your points are pretty much on point though. As things stand, VT 4s are indeed gonna be the cause of a major headache for us.

In public domain it's 500mm but according to many posters in BRF it's 600mm.
I know but as a rule of thumb, an APFSDS round will always penetrate less depth of armor than the length of its rod and the rod in the DRDO round is just too short, so I for one can't buy their claim in good faith, sorry.

According to PKS T90 is way better than vt 4 and he has repeated this many times on comment section.

Yeah, in some regards such as turret geometry, in that it's got more of its surface covered by the base armor and heavy ERA tiles and perhaps in terms of firepower if equipped with the original main guns. But the problem is, we didn't get the technology transfer for their 2A46M2/5 guns and hence are now forced into using outdated 2A46M guns which we do have a license for, so in terms of firepower, the VT 4s edges out the T 90S.

But in terms of fire control systems and active protection, the VT4s are just miles ahead.

Yeah, they seem funny to you because you do not understand the first thing about modern MBTs.

220mm!?.. Pretty sure that's old data.

Even 2A46M-1 had 650.00 MPa rated chamber pressure & 1800m/s muzzle velocity. T-72B3 or T-90A use 2A46M-5 gun... Plus that low would never cause such swaying in a 49t tank.
No, not old. 220 mm at 65 degrees impact angle, it's pretty formidable actually.
