Ok so, the things are moving now that DRDO-developed DATRAN engine was fired & to be tested further. It's originally meant for 50ton FMBT, which means the size constraints shouldn't be considerably high. I see some raising compared to T-72/90 hull, but not too significant.

The engine being modular can apparently be downsized a bit. The project proposal says 1200-1500 hp to generate minimum 25hp/ton T/W ratio.
