The looped para cord technique is something picked up from Israelis, they felt QD ones made too much noise so they started tying para cord at the ends connecting to the guns.

I'm all about the paracord. Just make sure your knots are good 2 go and burn the ends. Don't pull guts for slings. It makes it to thin to wear the sling clip when locked will open enough to slide off = bad day.

@GLD1980 just wanted to ask, during your service what firearms you generally used in training and/or combat if any such experience ? your personal experiences or views that you'd like to share here about those incidents involving firefights ?
also most typical question lol but still, which one you think is better, an AR or an AK and why ?

Its not that much guys and to set the record straight up front, I've deployed 3 times totaling 27 months to Eastern and Central Africa, Iraq and a short hop to Afghanistan and though the Army considers me a Combat Veteran, and though I've been on Combat Missions I've never initiated nor reacted to Enemy Contact. I've never been in a crazy fire fights while I was in the Army but that doesn't mean much in some places. I had an interesting teen and young adult life! I've been shot at more in my home state of California than in all 3 Combat zones combined so learning how to shoot, move and communicate maneuvering under fire and urban warfare was easily translated and made quick sense. Don't get me wrong, I could of almost died several times in both my civilian and Army life but that doesn't mean shit because I didn't die. The way I feel about it is what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and my experiences have taught me well. Plus everbody who's ever been gets rocketed at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan but you don't get Free CIB's for that shit lol. At least not in 2012. You have to earn it.

We should take this moment to pay respects to those that have fallen making the ultimate sacrifice for both of our Countries.

Back to my story. I did not earn my Combat Infantrymans Badge only because God never granted me the opportunity, but the Lord and my Soldiers, Superiors and Peers all know that I tried. More than most I feel while many American Soldiers and Servicemembers were just unlucky, though some viewed contact with the enemy differently, in the end when the bullets fly people die so I am glad I never lost a Soldier or a Comrade!
I did earn my Expert Infantrymans Badge, Ranger Tab, Airborne Wings and my German Troop Proficiency Badge in Gold. My regret is that I did not try harder, do more, go further, and sacrifice more! I miss it. Sometimes your higher power issues you Angel's, and mine have always seriously protected my ass.

I guess we can call all my bullshit Chapter One, hahaha....
(Basic to 1st Unit to 1st Deployment, Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, Horn of Africa 15 month extended Deployment)

I joined in 2005. I reported to Infantry OSUT @ Ft. Benning, GA, now the Manuever Center of Excellence. Upon graduation I immediately reported to Airborne School also at Ft. Benning, GA. I was a PV2 Private Second Class. After completion of Airborne School I reported to the 3rd US Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard which is the Army's oldest active Infantry Unit. It serves as The Ceremonial Escort to the President of the United States. It is widely known for its duties guarding the Tomb of the Unknowns and Final Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington Virginia. After Orientation I became a member of the Prestigous Delta "Dog" Company, 1st Battalion 3rd US Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard! One of the best times of my life fellas! Northern Virginia (NoVA) during Bush Jr's Presidency was fun as hell! To top it off it was a very Honorable job for an 11Bravo but tough on Privates often making them soft or quit after contract. I had it amazing. I had tough, mean salty ass SOB's for Non Commissioned Officers and actually some of the better Officers in the Army, we're talking about West Point O's and tough Combat Veteran NCO's.
They started me off as a Rifleman with a M16A4 but I quickly became the M249 SAW Gunner and did that duty for 18 months. My M249 was equipped with a PEQ2 and a Elcan MGO. I learned quickly earning a few awards for simply doing my job well, which was weird but hey, shitbags make doing your job go further than it should. I can imagine even in the Indian Army there are shitbags! There are two types of Shitbag Soldiers, the ones that purposely suck at life and the ones that naturally suck at life. My point being they are horrible Soldiers and they will most likely get you or them killed. Back to my first and third weapons systems; the M16 rifle series. Specifically the M16A4 Rifle and the M4A1 Carbine. I've mastered both and used in conjunction with the following optics and accessories, the M68/EoTech/Trijicon TA-31RSO/TA-01NSN. The IR Illuminator/laser aiming devices ranging from the PAQ-4, PEQ-2, PEQ-15. Also the following Night Vision variants, the PVS-7 and PVS-14 night vision devices. I had a great time learning fast tracking from E3 Private First Class to E5 Sergeant. In 2007 we Deployed in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF) to Camp Lemonier Djibouti where I was sent to Uganda, where we were charged with Force Protection for a Civil Affairs Team. I was part of a 4 man Infantry Security Team and I personally was signed for a11 M240B/M4A1/M9 and new PEQ-15. It was great and wild times. Weirdest Deployment ever but best too. We were such soft targets do to poor leadership but I slept well with a M240B under my bed! I always wondered what house keeping thought of my under the bed stash lol! I was surprised, we were so far north in Lira Uganda or in Gulu, which is more towards LRA, J. Kony territory that we were never ambushed. Luck, if only you could buy that shit.
My next mission lasted 10 months. It was amazing! I was attached to my Platoon at a Mil to Mil training site located on the beach of Lake Victoria, in Kasenyi Uganda, which is between Kampala and Entebbe. We trained the Ugandan Peoples Defense Force (UPDF) Specifically their Presidential Guard and Commandos on Infantry Battle Drills and Ambushes and Raids. It was longer than our own Basic Training and more thorough. We built the Ugandans a bad ass obstacle course and taught them some techniques that they reported helped secure victories throughout there Area of Responsibility (AOR) in the African Union (AU), specifically Somalia. I white water rafted class 3-5 rapids on the Victoria Nile, saw West Nile Perch at Murchison Falls, and was almost attacked for getting to close to a male lion trying to mate with a female at a safari at Murchison Falls National Park. Great times. Great friends made! Only actual wild event was an elevated attack threat made on the US Embassy but other than that it was a vacation at government expense for a good cause.

@Johny_Baba

I used to love the AK more than the AR. One of my favorite guns is my SIG556R chambered in 7.62x39.

But after years of Combat Training and missions I prefer the AR. It is truly versatile with the right ammunition out to 600-700m whereas the 7.62x39 max may be around 300-400m if your lucky.
Here's my 5.5.5"bbl AR-15 5.56
My 10.3"bbl AR-15 5.56
My 18"bbl AR-15 DMR 5.56
My SIG 716I SPR 7.62x51
My Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM16 16.5" DMR
My Long Range Bolt Gun. A Ruger Precision Rifle Gen3 20"bbl 7.62x51

Guys honestly I love all guns and some kill better than others but there all awesome if properly maintained.
