Actually helmet + bpj modernisation is still in progress given the huge numbers. Also low risk/ peacetime/ exercise units are still using older gear. Almost all frontline troops I have seen use the newer gear.

Well SiG was also meant to be given to frontline troops first. So a fair assumption that the soldiers wielding SiGs are frontline troops but still have old helmets . Don't you think ? Or is it that the pace of equipping troops with a better rifle (a sophisticated piece of machinery) is faster than equipping them with a modern helmet (a simple piece of machinery) ? In which case all the more shame !

Photo is from Auli, Uttarakhand. It's a peace time training exercise.

According to Colonel Aman Anand, Army spokesperson, all infantry battalions deployed at key locations have got this weapon while in other infantry, 50 per cent of troops have it.

Peace time duties like Cantonments and Field Exercises generally have older gear.

Troops at the LOC have far better gear

Regular or integrated knee pads these are required when you are firing from various positions; these are basic necessities but not all our soldiers r not provided.
