Serious issue.
He isn't wrong. But the way he describes the crash, Emergency flotation devices on Rudra wouldn't have mattered. They hit with speed and the cockpit disintegrated on impact. But he is right that the Army should give its pilots life jackets and also train them in underwater escape training provided to Navy pilots. That is basic.

Everything else apart, this particular pilot didn't even need training, he managed to open his seat belt but could have broken a femur because of the crash and hence was unable to swim up. A simple life-jacket would have saved his life. The rescue was on site within 15 minutes, had he had a life-jacket, he would have been found floating and hence rescued.

Our forces pay scant attention to the life of individuals as we are a manpower-based military force. This socialist crap about turning the military into a job-creating machine has to go. The focus then is only on quantity and you are just a number, and in case you are not more, just a ceremony and a photo.
