Barak 8 has been sold to Azerbaijan which has strong military ties with Pak including joint defense production pact.

Azerbaijan also support Pak on Kashmir issue.
Being a joint venture between Bharat Dynamics and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, I wonder why India has given permission for the export of the latest Barak 8 system to Azerbaijan knowing full well their military ties with Pak? These Porkis will get hold of it and reverse engineer the missile and give it some weird name like Tipu Sultan etc! And allow their masters China to do the same!

Something doesn't add up here. Or am I missing something?

After $2-3 billion orders we only make 30% of the system. The order could go double in a decade.

India would never approve of that deal. IAI has cut out India as a supplier and has no veto on where it is sold to. This joint project is about as one sided as a one way street.

Apparently, IAI has cut India out of its own market. Anyway, we got what we wanted. A SAM for our desperate Navy with as much local systems as we can in the small time window that was there as well as a local production line.

So even if Israelis have left India high and dry, it is not much of a loss. Navy wanted Anti AShMs desperately and this was possibly the best.

It is, however, another thing that if Israelis are breaking the written or unwritten norms of the JV then there will be repercussions. The next big thing happening in India is a +200 KM range AAD based SAM. And apparently, DRDO has decided to develop it by itself. Since ELTA is a big supplier of radars for Indian defence forces wonder if detested India will ever consider putting any order for their EL series?

Furthermore, the QRSAM project could have also gone the JV way because of Isreali experience of developing Spyder but DRDO went ahead by itself and this SAM has many inputs directly form Barak 8 like dual pulse rocket motor.

Russians are already feeling the heat. Which is playing EX-GIRLFRIEND by trying to tease us by selling offensive weapons to Pakistan.

Soon the world will realise the power of Indian Military Industrial Complex shaping India's diplomacy accordingly.

Azerbaijan has been a significant customer of Israeli defence industry in recent years.

The appereance of Barak-8 in Azerbaijan may come as a shock to you guys (understandably) but the deal goes back to 2012, when Barak-8 was still in development (Azerbaijan has purchased the land based variant).

Azerbaijan's ties with Pakistan are not a plausible argument for claiming that it would "share" the system. That's not how things work anyway. Azerbaijan is a close ally of Turkey (much more than it is to Pakistan, the two countries share ethnic and language ties) yet Israel does not see a problem in arms sales to Azerbaijan and I believe you are all aware of the sour relations between Israel and Turkey.

Yep! Sell the Barak 8 to Iran to piss off the Israelis! :cool3: It takes two to tango after all!
To piss Israelis we only have to maximize the indigenous content in MRSAM (which anyway we will do).

Replace FCR, seeker(scaled up version of the seeker of Astra MK-1), replace guidance computers (from QR SAM) and tail -- oh wait, we already own it:balleballe:............name it MK-2 and then sell it Iranians.

another "Barak-8"

it is said that Azerbaijan ordered the operational land-based version of the long-range missile system with 12 launchers and 75 surface-to-air missiles from IAI years ago(2012?)...

and last year, I watched some tv news of the the Barak8 test launch by Azerbaijan armed force. the screenshot of lauched missile caught our eyes ...

View attachment 20388

just got something interesting and much clearer...
nowadays we also read the news about IAI promoting this 'another' lay-out Barak-8 to other customers...

and obviously IAI has own Launcher design...

------------------
you'd better try to dig out more details of the contract about the so called Joint/JV project of MRSAM/LRSAM... obviously Israeli side should have all tech of the sub-system, component needed for this AD system. it's very possible the MRSAM/LASAM from the JV project is a 'customed' version for
specific market/nation as some term may approve/limit in the contract...

Israelis are few of our trusted partners. What's the point in this? Better to reason with them.

Does Indian Verison also uses MAZ?
I don't know. Are there any images?

I believe that particular model of MAZ are manufactured in Azerbaijan (there is a automobile plant which manufactures certain MAZ models under license).
