Now this is Confusing, yes the thing is that we Indian Army had placed an order for 100 units before, but the truth is that the First 10 K-9 Vajra SPH had come directly from Hanwha Defence from South Korea and the remaining 90 were the ones which which were produced under transfer of Technology in India itself by Larsen and toubro, not all were produced by Larsen & Toubro.View attachment 133516
Hope we give it a new name and indigenise this gun make it 100% Indian and sell.it in future. Just like Korea.

Vajra seems to be an okay name to me ,it's pretty good, now I guess with this deal for 200 additional Guns ,we will get 100% TOT of the Gun. With regards to Export than If I am not wrong L&T already has IP(Intellectual Property) rights for it and can along with South Korea jointly export these Systems to other countries.

No country would give 100% Tot. Even for Brahmos we haven't received 100% ToT. We developed replacement systems ourselves.

Same needs to go for K9. From the computers, optics, reloaders, engines etc. Slowly.

Brahmos was a Joint Venture between Russia and India.

I know that no one will give 100 % TOT (Transfer of Technology) for any product but considering the amount of K-9s we are Buying we need to get more TOT.

With this acquisition of 200 more Units along with our existing 100 units of K-9 Vajra we will have 300 Guns in total with us so. We will be the second largest Operator of these Guns after South Korea. A Total of 1,136 K9s and 179 K10s have produced for the Republic of Korea Armed Forces from the year 1999 to 2017. Turkey uses 280 units of T-155 firtina (Turkish Version of the K-9 thunder) so after these additional 200 guns we will be 2nd largest Operator of These guns so we need more TOT.

Also I am shouting TOT here, I have a question, what Technology have south Koreans transferred to us? Has 50 Percent TOT been given? 60 percent? 70 Percent? Like how much exactly? I have missed out on this Part.

it uses imported
STX Engine STX-MTU MT881Ka-500
8-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine
735 kW (1,000 hp) @ 2,700 rpm
As for transmission it uses
Imported SNT Dynamics X1100-5A3
4 forward, 2 reverse
Do all the various K-9 models(Such as K-9 Vajra, T-155 Firtina etc) use the STX Engine STX-MTU MT881Ka-500 8-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine as their Respective powerplant?

both

Again with Wikipedia, okay I will accept this , maybe the Engine part and the Transmission part maybe true but don't always refer to Wikipedia because it's not always a trustworthy reliable source.

There is no other known engine which exists for K9 and its variants other than the STX 8 cylinder water cooled diesel engine. Same goes for the transmission .

Wikipedia is reliable most of the time . Only some info might be screwed . But i've verified the engine and transmission system models from other sources as well

Yes I agree with what you have said ,I know that the part with regards to which Engine is used ,which transmission is used and some other stuff is true. But the specs of these are sometimes not Trustworthy From Wikipedia, for that you need to refer to various sources to clarify. Rest everything is all and good.

300 K9 Vajra T is OK But Where is K10 Ammunition Resupply Vehicle

Plenty of K9s are ordered without K10, it’s far from essential. A regular ammo truck with a crane can likely do the same job with 80% efficacy as this highly specialist (and expensive) solution

if a need is felt later down the road (and excess CAPEX is around) they can always be ordered but for now every penny available should be spent on getting guns. A ratio of 1 K10 for 2 K9 would mean the additional 200 K9s would likely have to be curtailed at ~120 units (assuming the K10 is ightly cheaper than the K9), simply not worth it right now when the PLA is breathing down the necks of units on the LCA
