Himars is rocket this is missile, how are they comparable?

‘Purpose is same to catch the enemy unaware and destroy him at long range. Both LORA and HIMARS do the same although technology is different.

Somebody more knowledgeable is needed to comment whether which one is more reliable and accurate. Which one will be easily manufactured in India. On top of all this HIMARS is an American weapon which for the first time used in UKraine. The falsified American reports say that, it is highly successful, but who knows. Moreover, it is not easy to get American weaponry thru multitudes of Congressional approvals. Local manufacture out of question.

I’ve heard the exact opposite, ATHOS has a lot of support from the very top, ATAGS is only on track for nominal orders.

ATAGS MGS is also not likely to go anywhere for the next 7 years

This is going to be another HTT40/LCA MK1A saga. ATHOS is the uniforms’ preference but it’s not going to go anywhere with ATAGS and other Indian 155/52 towed guns on the table.

in 2-3 years sense will be drilled into these clowns

Yes . Both are same .. Rockets

missile are distinguished by guidance system.

Though with miniaturisation of electronics one can see Excalibur like guided rounds available for artillery .

In short if it's unguided then simply rocket

If guided then guided rocket , guided artillery shell or missile. Let the manufacturer call it what they want.

Himars can launch rockets missile etc so does this system with missile/rockets of varied ranges. Russia has Iskander for the purpose. It's called rocket artillery.

We are developing pinaka prahaar etc.


And I doubt we will buy this anyway.

They are just making this up as they go along

so is this in addition to the 150 LSP DAC cleared years ago or instead of that?

this comes months after the RFI for towed 155/52 guns (with a weight limit that kept the ATAGS from participating)

is there any plan here or just whatever strikes the fancy of IA HQ’s officers that day? Seems like this move cements the idea they’ll get the ATAGS as a top end capability and use that to justify the ‘cheaper’ and ‘lighter’ (foreign) 155/52 towed guns with 23L chamber
