Can anyone answer me, Do India have Russian Novator Awacs killer missiles and do the missiles have the capability to down Saab Eriye Awacs in a possible 27th Feb type skirmish? I heard Eriye has strong EW system to jam enemy jets and missile?
If the missile really does exist...by the way our primary AAM against AEWACS will be BrahMos AAM

This missile can target airliner, awacs, transport plane, etc. through a long distance about 300 km
Since these types of planes have less manoeuvring. So these types of planes are a easy targets.
But for fighter jet this range will be about 40 km.

Can any one , give me any credible source of reports on AIM-260 being offered to India? Thanks in advance.
Just Social Media buzz, how will they offer AIM-260 when it is still under development and has not even started or completed its user trials and plus it doesn’t have the same body as an AIM-120 AMRAAM who’s internals are modified to make AIM-260. So it is a buzz.

This buzz is created since US offered india f15 ex for iaf in mmrca 2.0
So some indian defence analyst included aim 260 with the deal in weapon package

IAF has shortage of 405 pilots: Govt in Lok Sabha

The Indian Air Force has a shortage of 405 pilots against the authorised strength, the government told Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik said the number of pilots in the Indian Air Force at present is 3,834 as against the sanctioned strength of 4,239.

"There is a shortage of 405 pilots (as on March 1) in the IAF," he said, replying to a question.

He said 260 aircraft are being used for training of pilots in the force.

The trainer aircraft in the IAF included Pilatus PC-7 Mk-II, Kiran MkI/IA and Hawk Mk-132 advanced jet trainer.

To a separate question on whether India can counter China effectively with hypersonic vehicles, the minister declined to answer saying the information sought is highly sensitive and classified.

"The information sought is highly sensitive and classified and cannot be divulged on the floor of the House," he said in his written reply.

Replying to another question, Naik said 1,98,881 dwelling units were planned for construction through Married Accommodation Project route and 57,875 units were already built under phase one of the project.

He said 69,904 units were planned to be built under phase two of the project out of which construction of 58,062 units was completed.

Naik said there was a plan to construct 71,102 units under phase three of the project but an in-principle decision has been taken to construct further married accommodation through the Annual Major Works Programme route.

UK is retiring 72 x Hawk trainers by 2025. Could IAF make use of some cheap AJT's?

IAF has how many squadrons now? How many squadrons of fighters will HAL deliver in the next 5 years? 2? 3? Yes, more Rafales makes sense, especially given the one off investment in India-specific modifications and equipment.

IAF should dump aerial refuelers and buy more Su-30MKIs, Su-30MKIs with drop tanks specifically for aerial refueling role is a good option :troll: .

Not feasible... Su30MKI can't refill the large inventory of aircrafts during war time. It's good flankers have refilling buddy aircrafts capability but it's secondary task. Let the dedicated platform do the task. Flankers are there in sky to fight and dominate the air space
