So some of the IAF officials just secured a good package from Russia for their post retirement benefits , I've few questions for the idiotic IAF officers who made the deal and wasted around 200 cr

1. How many Mi 35 we have in service,
2. How long they are going to be in active service
3. Why we still buying a FLIR guided missile, which is so shit in current scenario
4. In what context IAF will use those Mi 35
5. What is the usage of Apache helicopters then

Is that Ataka missile import is much needed than modernizing the Bases in J&K to accomodate the Larger MKI planes,

India inks Rs 200 crore defence deal with Russia for 'Strum Ataka' anti-tank missile
New Delhi: Indian Air Force has been looking to equip its existing fleet of Mi-35 attack choppers with more lethal weapons to keep itself battle-ready in situations like the one post-Balakot aerial strikes. Now, under the emergency provisions in which the equipment has to be bought and ready for deployment in three months - the IAF is set to get 'Strum Ataka' anti-tank missile from Russia.

According to reports, the deal is worth Rs 200 crore and would significantly enhance Mi-35 helicopters' capability to take out enemy tanks and other armoured elements.

The IAF has made several acquisitions under the emergency provisions to equip itself for sudden war. Earlier this month, IAF signed Rs 300 crore deal with an Israeli defence firm to procure a batch of 'Spice 2000' guided bombs. These bombs are already present with the IAF and were used in the Balakot air strikes by Dassault’s Mirage 2000 to target Jaish-e-Mohammed training camps across the Line of Control (LoC).

The only aircraft with the IAF capable of delivering these bombs is Mirage 2000, however, post Balakot air strikes, IAF has decided to equip its Su-30MKI combat aircraft with these Spice 2000 bombs.

The Spice bombs are a derivative of Popeye air-to-surface missile and are fed with coordinates and satellite pictures of the target to home in and destroy the intended targets, according to a news agency report.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has also inked a deal for acquiring Spike anti-tank guided missile with France under the emergency provisions.

Under the emergency powers given to the three services, they can buy the equipment of their choice within three months at a cost of up to Rs 300 crore per case.

The deal for the missiles is worth around Rs 200 crore and would give an added capability to the Mi-35 attack choppers to take out enemy tanks and other armoured elements. The Mi-35s are the existing attack choppers of the Indian Air Force and are set to be replaced with the Apache gunships being acquired from the US and slated to be delivered from next month onwards. India has been trying to acquire the Russian missiles for a long time but the deal has been signed under the emergency provisions after more than a decade.

Last week, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had given a presentation about the procurements made by the three services under the emergency provisions. The Indian Air Force has emerged as the frontrunner in terms of weapon acquisition under the emergency procurement, followed by the Indian Army. The IAF has acquired the Spice-2000 stand-off weapon system along with a number of spare and air to air missile deals with multiple counties under the emergency provisions to equip itself for sudden war.

The Army is in the process of acquiring the Spike anti-tank guided missile from France and Igla-S air defence missiles from Russia under the emergency provisions. Under the powers given to the three services, they can buy the equipment of their choice within three months at a cost of up to Rs 300 crore per case, government sources said.

The emergency powers were given to the forces within few weeks after the 14 February Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed, and India started increasing vigil at the borders with Pakistan, sources added.

There are two squadrons left that will serve ten more year's until an Indian alternative comes alive.

Meanwhile Military top brass are probably shilling for MI 28.

LOL. For now, I'd probably go with a few more Apaches - and place huge orders for LCH's and Rudras.

Use Apaches, with their powerful radars (espc. the Longbows) mixed in sparsely with swarms of cheaper Indian attack helos.

Since India has had pretty good success with helicopters til date, they should also look into developing their own heavy gunship (like Hinds and Apaches).
