While I’m all for women taking care of themselves and engaging In athletics And sports, I have never really understood what is meant by “sports equality”.

The amount of salary an athlete makes is quite dependent on their revenue, which only fans can generate. You can’tforce People to watch women’s sports can you?

Exactly my point!!! The US women soccer players had it quite good because they were getting base salaries along with bonuses instead of being paid per game appearance like the US men's soccer players do and those figures change on what attendances are and whether it was televised nationally or internationally. US men's soccer players had no salary guarantees and had to constantly perform to be on the roster each week whereas US women's soccer players all had to do was be on the roster in the beginning of the year and they would get a salary and benefits.

Lost US Prestige

US has been cowed down by China in last two days. Without mentioning the out spoken Nancy Pelosi’s much heralded visit to Taiwan, it has been put on hold. Chinese had objected strongly to the extent of sending Navy and Airforce very near to the island. A weak President Biden who had a Video conference with Chinese Xi last week probably got scarred of Chinese threats and persuaded Pelosi to relent.

This proves only one thing that Chinese exercise a greater influence than accepted by US. The US is too busy fighting an indirect war in Ukraine, hence would not wish to start another.

Moreover the Chinese power, although inferior in quality but equal in quantity has brought down the US prestige to the ground. The Chinese did it in 20 years with US money (FDI) by exporting just all consumer goods to US and Europe. The US could stop this import any day and tell China to dump goods in the sea, they will place order elsewhere. But US chose not to do it and allowed Chinese to bring their own prestige to the ground. What an Irony.

US media and officials could harp as much as they want on US greatness. It has been brought down by China.

India’s relations were never friendly with US since the fifties as John Foster Dulles, the ruler of US relations with others hated Nehru for aligning with Russia. On the other hand Nehru had tried hard to be on the good books of America but America preferred Pakistan who became member of CENTO, SEATO, and received equivalent $10 billion in military aid of 400 Patton Tanks and 56 Sabre Jets.

Now the die was cast, Pakistan will never let india near US in terms of friendly relations. Left with no choice India further strengthened Indo-Soviet relations. That continued until seventies, eighties and nineties. Successive Foreign Secretaries in US were anti India.

Post 9/11, US realized Pakistani involvement and encouragement into anti - West activities. But they did nothing as Pakistan was used as the transshipment point to supply US troops in Afghanistan. Not until a daring Donald Trump, cut off all aid to Pakistan. Then came Biden, who never called the Pakistani leaders. It was pretty clear that with disappearance of financial and military aid Pakistanis will go down and down. …….. and they did in 2021-22, they completely ran out of money. That is when clever Pakistanis gave to the US the location of Al Qaeda, number 2 in Kabul that US agreed for the big US.. IMF loan to keep Pakistan going.

That trade off will keep Pakistanis going for a year or two….. after that same story. Hence india’s relations with US is more Pakistani centric less Russia centric. It is only because US does not like Russia that they keep on harping Indo-Russia relations. But they forget that it is US who drove india into neutrality and pro Soviet/Russia.
