I strongly doubt it. The whole concept of G2 is that the US and China will work in harmony to resolve global issues. What the US meant by that is for China to adopt the same viewpoints as the US and use its economic power to help enforce the US order that places US interests first. It's in the same line of delusional thinking that a prosperous China will inevitably become a liberal Western-aligned democracy.
The Chinese perspective was that the US will cede to China its "rightful" sphere of influence i.e. the US cedes global hegemony without a fight. The most important part of the sphere is the rest of East Asia, namely the first island chain, that China views as non-negotiable.
When China began increasing the power of its navy and made aggressive moves in the East and South China Sea, the G2 view began to fall apart in the US as they realized what a rising China truly entails. For the US, what is essential to national security is control over the Atlantic, Pacific, and Latin America. By controlling the first island chain, the US restricts China's ability to contest control of the Pacific. Should China gain control, their greater economy will allow them to control the Pacific and project power into Latin America, forcing the US to focus on its own hemisphere and be unable to be hegemon over the rest of the world. So I believe a US-China conflict is inevitable.
That the US does not take the Chinese threat as seriously as it should and has alienated allies over human rights, giving China opportunity to expand its influence, is due to arrogance and foreign policy failure, not any G2 agreement.
