Lot of anger towards India in Washington DC at present. Justified or not, that is the fact. Hope for quick remedial actions from India (May be quick clearance for F-18 purchase?)
There is a damn reason why we supported AUKUS in favour of the US-led alliance. It's not like we are vetoing everything against the US. But if they can't see that, then this is something we need to seriously reconsider. The noises made in Pakistan are only going to make us re-think our future plans.

Having US-made jets in this current situation is dangerous as it would take our entire naval aviation hostage to their whim. Rafale M is the best choice for now. Yes, Vikrant won't be able to have all the jets it needs on the deck, but it would still have enough to fight potential wars.

Having sanctioned F/A-18s in the middle of a war is as good as having no jets at all.

So we should buy our relationship with the US?
They want us to. That's how the US rolls - transactional relationship. The reason why Japan and the UK get ignored for all their flaws is that they agree to become a doormat to the policymakers in DC. They expect some bit of it from us as well. While we won't be a doormat, we have to find a way to ensure our strategic autonomy, combined with deft commercial transactions that put their ego at ease.

Once we have sufficient domestic capabilities economically and militarily, we can always choose to ignore the areas where we don't commonly agree with each other.

The “rules based order” needs to be shattered asap. It’s fake and only benefits one ideolgoy

There's a catch to that. It means that the world will be completely unmonitored. You see, US Navy keeps vigil on the seas that allow a lot of trade, especially from the European vassals to the eastern world.

Once the Rules-Based Order collapses and the US retreats towards China, we will have to enter the big leagues to secure the IOR. Judging by the current budget allocation that the Indian Navy gets, that's nowhere near enough to extend our safety net to friendly countries in the region. Our defence budget should be double of what we spend right now, with the new number's 70% going to the Navy if at all we have to play this game.

It also means that we will have to make quicker moves to ensure that Pakistan collapses before US & Brits can prop them up. That means pushing for more non-dollar-denominated trade, especially in oil and gold imports, which form the bulk of our imports by value. Not going to be easy.

‘Only remedy as you are asking is to stop buying the Russian oil and start supporting the NATO / US in Ukraine war. That is unlikely to happen. Any other remedy in your mind?

Well there's lots of anger towards US for US agreeing to supply spares to the F-16 planes which is Pakistan's mainstay fighter and delivery platform for nukes.

There was lots of anger in DC towards India when we kicked the portuguese out.
Same for stopping the genocide in Bangladesh.
Same for the nuclear tests.
Same for S400 induction.

US is in a perpetual hair ripping mode regarding India ever since our independence.
I have the best remedy to heal our relations. We should give US something much more valuable than the wee lil money they'll make selling us F18. It's the ultimate currency. It is non-refundable, absolute, priceless and wholly enriching.
It's the currency we trade with US in since forever.
We should give US some time.
Time heals everything or at least puts some lipstick on the pig of a circumstance for a more bearable visage.
