If the reports are to be believed then Americans are getting ready to unveil a $500 million military hardware aid to India. This probably is a nice thought although too small to decouple India from Russian military supply chain yet if it goes to build spare parts supply system in India for the Russian hardware then US has achieved half of its objective of decoupling Russia from India.

Now what is there in the $500 million offer, we do not know. It definitely does not include big ticket items. You may see some inkling of it in the QUAD meet on May 24.

If the US really want to wean India off Russian arms and be in the US camp, the US would have to declare unilaterally that it would veto any UN resolution to be unfavorable to India, replace the Su-30 MKIs with F-15s on a one to one basis and subsidize the maintenance cost of the F-15s, supply India with 15 AWACs, give unlimited production rights for the F-414, unlimited production rights for the tank engine so India can mass produce Tejas and Arjuns, replace the M-17s on a one to one basis with blackhawks and the list goes on. All of this have to be done on Uncle Sam's dime.

Oh one more thing, USA would have to support unconditionally India's right to PoK.

Once US agrees to that, I am ready to put the ink to the paper and go all the way to the US camp.

Still the slave mentality.
India should get permanent veto power for itself and not dependent on other country.
If US wants India to part ways with Russian and be in US camp, first US should get India permanent veto power in UN.

Ha ha ha slave mentality?? You are the one advocating closer relationships with US. What I wrote shows the impossibility of US meeting the necessary basic requirements for India to abandon Russia. It cannot be done. US has no ability to replace Russia for India in a strategic sense.

Shows how clueless you are.

That is the point you still don't get. Their are no friend and foe in international relations. Their are just permanent interest.
Currently Indian and US interest align viz a viz PRC and the same time Indian and Russian diverge viz a viz PRC.
The entire global order is transactional in nature.
If US wants to use India to counter-balance PRC, US wants to use India to grow their defense industry then India also has a right to have certain degree of expectation from US.
India is not like its esteemed neighbor who will dance on US tune if US throws some money or military goodies towards them.

And you don't get it. US simply do not want India to align its interests with US. It want India to be a poodle like Britain.

Here's a joke for you that you can understand. A guy goes to a famous actress and offers a $10k to sleep with her, which she rejects with horror and says I'm not for sale. He keeps upping the offer and when the offer reaches $500M for a night, she agrees. The guy immediately drops the price back to $1000 saying now that we've established you're for sale it's just a matter of negotiating the rate!

India's cancellation of high value russian weapon i think has nothing to do with geopolitics or American pressure ... Russia wont be able to deliver or produce high value arms because of complete ban of aviation and other tech products upon them .. There is also fear how Russians ll be able to keep the maintenance and supply of parts in future ... Right now primary concern of Russia ll be to fill its own defence reserve somehow by black market route or back channel dealings ... So india bound to start looking for local .. invest in R&D and go for europe , usa ..
India is on the route to self reliance in many departments, missiles are almost all covered, including the state of art hypersonic cruise ones which will be mastered soon, and many niches and other major systems are being filled up by our own industries both private and public. We are going to replace all countries' foreign weapons and not just Russia's.

I don't know what America is doing by offering us a paltry 500 million for their weapons at this stage of India's weapon development saga. America should have come up with deals 2 decades ago. Now we will only be buying certain specific niches and even those might be replaceable in the coming future.

that is also the bummer.

India is at a stage where It won't need much help from any major player in tech other than in certain niche areas. So this late proposal by the USA just looks comical.

I mean don't they know that our plan is to be mostly self-reliant and if that is implemented properly no other country will be able to arm-twist us (and that is precisely why this condition is being created) including the US.

It is almost like USA thinks that India is still in the 1960s.The only offer India will take for any major systems will be under a condition where it provides such high secondary benefits in terms UNSC seat, support, etc that it would be impossible for the USA to proceed. So they must be happy with niche stuff being bought by India in small quantites.

Why even bother trying just to show up and give attendance.

Russian weapons are junk and watch russian tv they have already made alliance with china and pakistan.Even putin congratulated shahbaz and embrace of imran and isi.Russia backstabbed india during afghan negotiation and sold weapons to pakis like the usa so it has lost it relevance as a reliable ally.India must use its resource to strengthen mic base and invest in indigenous research and development no need to go for sanctioned russia.
Got into China camp by halting S400 exports.

And how did you come up with this notion that Russian weapons are junk. India won 3 wars with Russian junks and not only shot down a F-16 with a 3rd rated junk and scared the beheevus out of PAK.

Try again, Sherlock Holmes and stop falling for western propaganda and stop being such a cheap Paki whore who would open her legs for a few shillings.
Not to mention it was Abhinandan in one MiG21 vs an entire squadron of 4th Gen fighter Jets.

It’s pure cope saying Russia moved to Paki camp😂🤦🏾‍♂️. I mean, all they give is oil which they beg for.

And take a public stand against China for their border incursions

In 1980 Carter offered $400M military aid to porkis which Zia called peanuts. If US wants to offer a comparable military aid to India - let's do the math:
$400M in 1980 @5% inflation over 42 years= $3.1B today
Scaling 10x to India's size= $31B
To counter China ~3x = $91B

If US wants to offer a package, north of $90B - no strings attached, yeah let's talk
