PAKISTAN ACCUSES INDIA OF WATER TERRORISM

While Barak Obama is concerned over "resurgent extremism" in Pakistan an official said 'Indian water terrorism' posed more serious threat to Pakistan than Taliban. According to the leading daily, The Nation Chairman Indus Water Council Pakistan and Coordinator World Water Assembly Zahoorul Hassan Dahir has said that 'Indian water terrorism' posed more serious threat to Pakistan than Taliban.

Talking to newsmen in Lahore on Monday, he said, "After Chenab and Jhelum now India was pursuing a plan to get complete control over Indus River." He said the pace with which India was diverting Pakistani rivers, days are not far off when country would face situation like Somalia, Ethiopia and Chad. He was of the view that problems of terrorism, insurgency and Talibanisation have been created just to divert attention from Indian 'Water Terrorism'.

He said Indian Parliament has approved construction of 500 km long train track from Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh which would be utilised for transportation of construction material for Kargil dam and three other reservoirs being built on the Indus River. Terming water aggression as more dangerous and devastating than atom bomb, he urged government to take effective measures to secure Pakistan's water rights. He said Pakistan's efforts for sorting out contentious issues about Baglihar dam and Kishan Ganga Hydro Power project have failed; therefore government should approach International Court of Justice.

He was of the view that due to Indian water aggression, matters have reached to a point where World Bank could not play effective role, therefore, International Court of Justice was proper forum for seeking justice.

BS... we haven't stopped a drop of water on that river and yet we get accused of terrorism by the biggest proliferator there is !!!

Maybe we should actually stop their water and let them know how it really feels...

Any way in which I can contribute money to a fund to speed up construction of this dam???

Pakistan urges India to honour Indus Water Treaty

* Foreign Office spokesman says New Delhi, Islamabad must cooperate to eliminate terrorism from region

ISLAMABAD: Complaining of violations of the Indus Water Treaty, Foreign Office (FO) spokesman Abdul Basit on Saturday said India should honour the treaty in its true letter and spirit.

Talking to the state-run TV channel, the FO spokesman said a Pakistani delegation led by Indus Water Commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah was on a three-day visit to India to convey Pakistan’s concerns about the Kishan-Ganga project and inequitable water distribution. He said the delegation would lay emphasis on fair distribution of water.

Rejecting any Indian preconditions for resuming the dialogue process, the spokesman said the talks should be irreversible and result oriented.

Terrorism: He said both New Delhi and Islamabad must cooperate to fight and eliminate terrorism from the region.

Blaming India for delay in the trial of Mumbai terror suspects, he said Pakistan desired that India should provide complete evidence soon to help Islamabad initiate formal proceedings.

India on May 20 had forwarded a 1,000-page document claiming evidence of Mumbai attacks, of which 800 pages were incomprehensible, neither in English nor in Urdu, the FO spokesman said, adding that Pakistan had conveyed to India to provide the English version of the documents to enable Islamabad to initiate prosecution of the suspects of the Mumbai terror attacks. app

Its called getting a bloody translator. They have no problems reading chinese manuals on nuke reactors and other weapons, but can't understand hindi, which is just different in script from urdu.

What a pathetic excuse. No seriously, what a pathetic excuse for a nation to give. This the kind of excuse high school students give for skipping their homework.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that this action is against international humanitarian law. Plus, aren't the Chinese building or have built a dam on the Bhramaputra river? Denying Pakistan water is setting a very dangerous precedent.

Of course it is against the international laws and the Indus Water treaty. India has uphold this treaty despite three major wars and unabated sponsor of terrorism targeted against India. Pakistan is making unnecessary noises just to attract attention and show India in a bad light. If they cross rubicon of Indian patience someday they might be denied water and we still can maintain plausible deniability just like they do after terrorist attacks.

If India has indeed stopped or reduced the water flow to Pakistan, then how is it possible for Pakistan to have a bumper crop wheat compare to last year and has reached to a stage where they are exporting the wheat now.

This hullabaloo about Indus water treaty is all a charade put up by Pakistanis with some ulterior motive against India.

Pakistan to export wheat

Pakistan’s economic panel is expected to meet on Tuesday (today) and allow sale of wheat products after the procurement this year reached eight million tonnes, the highest in seven years.

“The economic coordination committee meeting will take place tomorrow,” said Shahid Raja, Additional Secretary in Food and Agriculture Ministry.
“We are pretty sure it will be allowed tomorrow, they will revoke the ban on wheat product exports.”

He said Pakistan is likely to sell up to 500,000 tonnes of wheat products to Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Pakistan, which consumes about 22 million tonnes of wheat a year, is expected to harvest a bumper crop of more than 24 million tonnes because the area under the crop rose following favourable growing conditions.

The problem is that if we cut the waterflow, Pak will call it "a move to annhilate Pak' and decide to launch its nukes at us.

Nowadays we can't even pressure pak to do anything about its terror network since Pak has an impenetrable shield called nuclear terrorism. If GOI so much as breathes hard, Pak rattles its nukes.

Its this trigger happy nature of Pak that emphasises our need for a credible ABM shield. We should lobby for USA to allow Arrow 2 purchase, buy a lot more S-300s and S-400s, all the while fast-tracking our own indegenous ABM defences.

The bigest threat to India is pak nukes. If we can address that threat, we can deal with Pak terror network. Till then, all we can do is ask them politely and hope they listen.

Ya. U are right. I was out of my mind to say that. Sorry bout that.

I just hope GOI grows a pair, and stand up to pak intimidation instead of just 'condemning' every other terrorist attack.

Indus Waters Treaty Commissioner Jamaat Ali Shah, while leaving for New Delhi to talk about waters shared by India and Pakistan, said that Pakistan was getting its share of waters under the Indus Treaty and that building a dam was the right of India. He said less water in Pakistani rivers was because of lack of rain, not because India had blocked it.

Why should we let water to pass through Pakistan?

What is the need for India to obey International law when Pakistan is sponsoring terror against India. Let them suffer.... and see how they eat grass. If they Use nukes..... then Pakistan will be a history in World map..... It should be a fight to finish everything.

for the same reason China lets water pass through India.

What is the need for India to obey International law when Pakistan is sponsoring terror against India.
because our ambition is to be a "responsible power" and get a UNSC seat with veto.

Let them suffer.... and see how they eat grass.
aren't they suffering enough ?

If they Use nukes..... then Pakistan will be a history in World map.....
and we will be ?

It should be a fight to finish everything.
not necessarily.
