Pakis officially conveyed through Bill Clinton that they would use nuclear bombs during Kargil conflict. Clinton called Vajpayee to stand down! Vajpayee literally dared Pakis to use their nuclear weapons and promised to wipe out the entire country of Pakistan in return!! Same threat was repeated after 26/11, again via US intermediaries (McCain), but this time Manmohan Singh didn't have the balls! Vajpayee even refused a ceasefire - said he would rain bombs & bullets on every Paki on Indian territory.

This IB & LOC construct in just a fiction you (and maybe few others) created! Pakis nuclear doctrine is for use of nuclear weapons when India occupies its territory (beyond LOC or IB is irrelevant; if they made such a distinction then it would be inviting India to take back POK with no nuclear threat!) or if Pakis feel overwhelmed in any way by Indian conventional forces (even without physically crossing LOC/IB!)

But he would respond to Pak nuclear blackmail too if things went that way. Then clinton promised deescalation and ordered Musshy to take back the nukes, which he did.
Pak nuclear threat is suicidal as it talks of using TNW s on its own territory too. They wont use till their existence is under threat. As far as taking back PoK is concerned I dont think its feasible without a fullscale war with Pakis. Bcoz if we ingress PoK, Pak would open other sectors like they did in 1965.

I don't think Clinton 'talked' with Musharraf! Clinton only slapped Nawaz Sharif for what Musharraf was doing. Clinton wanted India to 'ceasefire' (which is exactly what Musharraf was hoping....ceasefire& a new LOC). The decision not to cross LOC was made very early on (and was communicated)....before Sharif was even called to US.

As far as taking back PoK is concerned I dont think its feasible without a fullscale war with Pakis. Bcoz if we ingress PoK, Pak would open other sectors like they did in 1965.

It was the other way round. Pakis ingressed Indian J&K in 65 and India opened a front across IB.

That is only possible if Pakis come under the coverage of Akash SAM. I don't think they will want to loose F-16 and JF-17 wreckage in India. That would spook their narrative since the start.

The Bakis fled at the very first sign of trouble when challenged by the IAF, lost the most elite fighter in their possession, missed even after firing 4-5 AMRAAMs, had to return our WC who actually downed their F16, and to save face, gave a response that they were trying to show off their capability. They maintained that with F-16 and AMRAAMs they can very well shoot down IAF MKIs from a comfortable distance, now that confidence has gone, that's why they asked about dodging manoeuvers from Abhinandan.

Now since the dogfight era has gone wherein Pakis thought themselves to be champions, they must be rethinking thrice about their combat tactics.
