Well I respect him for his courage
But being a senior pilot and officer what he did was not wise statergically
He should have calculated the chance of getting shoot down by AMRAAMs
Being so close to the LOC
Flying a mig bison with minimum Counter measures
Nope, what Wing Co. did was the only thing any respectable air warrior should have done. Pukis were the aggressors, they fired 4-5 Aim, shot at MKIs, shot at his wingman. Had Wing Co. not fired his missile, this whole thing would have been embarrassing. He went in, he took revenge for the Puki's audacity, shot one up their tail pipe and got shot. For him, the choice was broken bones (bones heal) or death VS life long guilt of not doing anything when it counted the most. With one of their finest birds shot to shit at over 20K feet, 2 pilots down, MKI's evading the Aims, gave Pukis a reality check, while BVR is nice, the IAF will still fuck with you and can be a lot more audacious in it's motivation. Wing Co. not only kept Paltan ki Izzat, he as said will sleep peacefully all his life recalling exactly how he gambled with death to gain glory.
Which is why during his entire captivity he held his head high and will continue to do so when he moves to MKI or Rafale.
