China's imperialist attitude was expected but has been on display these last 18 months trying to bully Vietnam, then Philippines and now Japan. The latest is that they want to name the Varyag as Diaoyu Islands (what CCP calls the Senkaku).

The CCP is under an illusion that cheap and low self esteem is the way to go in establishing sovereignty - sending fishing boats to do their dirty work, renaming ships etc.

In lieu of all this and considering the plight of the Tibetans in India and in Tibet, India should de-recognize Tibet and an autonomous region of China and recognize the government in exile as valid. We should recognize Tibet as a sovereign nation that is under siege by an Imperialist army. Actively working on this will ensure that other countries like Japan (infuriated by Chinese antics) will also in due course recognize Tibet's struggles. If and when an American president grows some balls (unlike the cutlet sitting in chair now), the US will also fall in line.

+1.
For a start, India can felicitate Tibetan Govt in exile with other countries for more interactions, particularly Japan & Vietnam. Other countries will join the fray probably on US's nudge. Next would be garnering support from other countries for Tibetan cause as a coalition. Depending upon response should India move ahead.

Recognizing Tibet as sovereign must be at much later stage.

I think India should claim Tibet as an Indian territory because Tibet as an occupied Northern Arunachal Pradesh :D. Presence of Tibet-in-exile government in India gives credence to this fact. India should work towards this effort with the international community.

china cites 12th century maps to claim SCS. India has 3000 years plus claim on Tibet as a matter of fact. Kailash Parbat and Manasarovar are important places for Hinduism.

China has played the diplomacy. it is solving the problem on the Bilateral-discourse instead of Multilateral thus leveraging its bargaining position. things to do.
1. bring the issue to multilateral platform. it will "recognize" the problem as the "sovereignty issue".
2. Bargaining power will get boosted and a level playing field will arise.

A road map in this direction should be prepared.Down the ages,China was never a neighbour and by recognizing Chineese sovereignty over Tibet,we have invited the problem. Incrementally we should go on doing it.China may not recognize Kashmir as part of India. But then world is not prepared now to see emergence of a new nation based on religion. We become tongue tied when it comes to China. This attitude has to change and we need to raise such issues in our own interest in international and bilateral fora.

only way out is the diplomacy ... involve Taiwan into the India's Diplomacy as the anti-dote to China.

1.Start Track || diplomacy.

2.Involve the ROK-Taiwan-Vietnam-Japan-Philippine- Into Trade Agreements. Deepen the Economic Strategic ties that will boost India's presence.Create a Forum of something like Asian Development Partnership Program ( read AID-PP program) that will project India's Soft power and then Involve into Drills and Exercises.

3.Diversify AID (for infra-petro etc ) to countries like Mongolia, Kyrgyztan etc with India's Economic projection. it will boost India's Moral-- (China will surely feel the heat)

4.Sign friendship treaties with Security Deals. ( for that India needs to really develop a domestic Arms Industry. )

5.provide Jobs to the International citizens in India. ( That will boost the India's GDP may be NOT GNP but Still will help a lot.)

6.Provide Transit Vehicle via the Sea route and Port Facilities at the rates under those plurilateral treaties..

7. Use ISRO's capabilities on commercial level for Economic benefit.( for that some major bold steps need to be taken)

8.Change the mindset from Reactive to proactive.:)pound:)

9. India has the Biggest Soft power in terms of Buddhist Culture. Creating a Seat for Different South Asian Countries at upcoming Nalanda University Project will surely give a Jump to India's Soft power.

10.Mother of all ... Invite Chinese FDI into infrastructure ......... :troll:

It starts with a dream and then you have to work towards making it reality.

On top of what is mentioned in the thread, India should pitch in and provide moral support to the Uighur freedom struggle in Xinjiang. India should aslo intensify bilateral relations with Taiwan and support them the same way China is supporting Pakistan. Maybe go in for partnerships in defense projects as well. ;)

The first step is to print some maps showing Tibet and East Turkestan as independent countries.

Then if things heat up, India might consider apologizing, but keep printing such maps. India needs to act like a prick with PRC.

Following the four principles of Junmin jiehe (creating civil - military synergies), Yujun yumin (Identifying military use of civil capabilities), Dali xietong (Fostering cooperation and coordination) and Zizhu chuangxin (spearheading innovations) of China, INDIA should Identify military use of civil capabilities and let private players print those maps .. that will give an excuse to GOI that Its the private player that has made the maps not the Govt. ::heh:

Actually, no right is unlimited. Even the fundamental rights can be curbed by GoI, and GoI can still remain within the ambit of the Constitution.

The idea is for GoI to have the political will.

ya ya !

Article 19(2) in The Constitution Of India 1949
(2) Nothing in sub clause (a) of clause ( 1 ) shall affect the operation of any existing law, or prevent the State from making any law, in so far as such law imposes reasonable restrictions on the exercise of the right conferred by the said sub clause in the interests of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, decency or morality or in relation to contempt of court, defamation or incitement to an offence
but today our GOI has no rationale or moral ground to stand on the floor of the house .. still they are standing ! :democrazies: :troll:

Actually mate, I agree with
.

We are indeed dreaming. When will this become a reality? We really need to print such maps, instead of fantasizing.

I like your way of thinking.

Few people think using proxies gives some kind of advantage and is a desired tactic of any good super power. But its a sign of weakness at the same time exposing how short legged they are.

Its going to become harder to find proxies in multi polar world. Nations those who have acted as proxies for others are now it deep trouble, now impending to come out of their dependencies and seriously striving to become independent by all aspects.

Chinese failed in their military objective in 1962 war. They tried to rectified those failure again but failed miserably. They are itching for the same now.

If we be not able to march into Tibet we can make them bogged down and stretched out side the Tibet militarily. I mean our intent by our capability must to be made visible to them and to start with de-recognising Tibet as autonomous Chinese region is must.

Maybe they feel it is a foreign thing and so has to be given away?
