BEIJING: Indian IT companies wish to be a partner in China's drive to build global cities, S Jaishankar, India's ambassador, told Chinese entrepreneurs at a software conference in Nanjing city on Tuesday.

India is increasingly importing Chinese equipment, he said. "The focus is now on China reciprocating this trend and focusing on leveraging Indian IT capabilities," the ambassador said at a India-China software cooperation seminar.

China is the "missing portfolio" for $76 billion Indian IT industry, which has managed to book contracts in 70 countries speaking 35 different languages, he said.

"An IT relationship will make Chinese companies more efficient and greatly enhance their connectivity with the Indian economy," he said at the 7th China (Nanjing) International Software product expo, which ran concurrently along with the India-China seminar.

Welcome, Indian IT companies. China is a market full of opportunities, but it's also a place full of competitions and traps. Be aware and do the smart things before build smart cities.

we couldnt replicate Chandigarh till now.. Delhi and Mumbai choking and dying.. god knows what kinda help GoI is talking about.
moreover the protectionism shown by china is highly objectionable. they allowed Indian auto industry to enter chinese market. mahindra bought a tractor firm in china, yancheng tractors and then the free pass was taken away.
china is only allowing greenfield projects. that is come, invest, setup new plants, give chinese jobs, export what you make, and give us healthy wealth.... and not brownfield projects like what mahindra did.
they are not allowing indian cos to market their products be it pharma, it or auto... they ask for absurd profit %age and total control over chinese subsidary of indian firm... thats why pharma co are not going to china.

moreover last thing that sunk cisco... copy right issue...

Iam from Chandigarh yaar, i know chandigarh used to be good and clean, now it's close to Delhi. Even Delhi has improved by road and flyovers not to forget metro. On the other hand Chandigarh is still struggling with traffic and parking. Chandigarh was built for the population of 500,000 but if u see now its close to 2 million...

when i go now to Chandigarh in holidays. I prefer to go to market like sector 22,19,17,35 in afternoon and avoids evening coz of traffic...

Nimo_cn do not underrate these Indian Companies, they have one of the best comparable technologies with htem, the only problem has been that our politicians have never used their skills to develop India. With a socialist mindset ( and other factors also) they have always tried to get a solution from within Government Agencies, who in most cases do not have the required capabilities.

In US and other western European countries, using these India companies, local Governments have saved a huge amount of cash and also have improved many services.

it seems more a case where indian IT companies and the government have been desperately pushing for IT exports to china to check the every growing trade imbalance between the two countries, heavily in china's favor.

chinese agreeing to it is another ball game, and from the looks of it, it doesnt seem happening any time soon. chinese as usual and true to their ways of dealing agree but immediately back off, it was high time india started putting heavy restrictions on chinese exports to india, and then will take the case up in WTO, there remain many loopholes to be exploited, if that risks the complete trade with china, let that be the case.

allow their exports to the extent to which they allow our exports, and keep the parity in value terms. why does the country have to be pussy footed on every thing we deal in,quite difficult to understand. it seems the only time the government shows machoism is when it comes to confronting chaps like anna hazare and his team.
