Air to air: Workers load the first plane after the Afghanistan-India air corridor was inaugurated in Kabul on June 19.

Real, unimpeded connectivity for Afghan traders, says India envoy

India and Afghanistan on Wednesday launched an air freight corridor service connecting Kabul with Mumbai. Afghan Vice-President Sarwar Danish flagged off the first flight of the dedicated service from Kabul, six months after a similar corridor connected the city with Delhi.

“The India-Afghanistan Air Corridor expanded today! His Excellency Afghan Vice-President Sarwar Danish inaugurated the first cargo flight from Kabul to Mumbai. Real and unimpeded connectivity for Afghan traders,” said Indian envoy to Kabul Manpreet Vohra on social media.

Now an exhibition

The Afghan media reported that during the ceremony, Mr. Danish commented on the importance of such connectivity initiative. “India also promised to hold exhibition for Afghan traders in Mumbai city and they want to create business chambers.” Deputy Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) Khan Jan Alokozay expressed hope that connectivity with India’s commercial capital would increase fruit exports from Afghanistan. “India is not imposing taxes on Afghan traders. We are also trying to send fruits to Amritsar,” the media quoted him saying.

Afghan officials said since the launch of the corridor to New Delhi, fruits and medicines worth $20 million had been imported by India. The air corridor marks an important bilateral development as it comes as Afghanistan joined Pakistan and China in a trilateral talk in Beijing which marked Kabul’s opening up to Islamabad.

First consignment of 2400 tons of wheat arrive to Kabul from India
By Khaama Press - Sun Jan 14 2018, 2:21 pm

The first consignment of wheat as part of Indian government’s assistance to Afghanistan arrived to capital Kabul .

The consignment was received during a ceremony attended by senior Afghan officials as well the Indian embassy diplomats.

“Today, the first consignment of 2400 tonnes of wheat arrived in Kabul and was welcomed by Afghan Minister for Agriculture Mr.Nasir Ahmed Durrani and Charge d’Affairs Mr. Alok Ranjan Jha.The wheat is part of the 30thousand tonnes shipped via Chabahar,” a statement by the Embassy of India said.

This comes as the first shipment of Indian wheat comprising of 1.5 tons of wheat arrived to Herat provice of Afghanistan nearly a month ago.

India formally started exports to Afghanistan by flagging off the first shipment of 1.1 million tons of wheat to Afghanistan late in the month of October last year.

“The shipment of wheat is a landmark moment as it will pave the way for operationalisation as an alternate, reliable and robust connectivity for Afghanistan,” India’s External Affairs Ministry said in a statement by flagging the first shipment.

The statement further added that it will open up new opportunities for trade and transit from and to Afghanistan and enhance trade and commerce between the three countries and the wider region.

In terms of cost,water>rail>road

For long distance, transport by water is the most cost-effective choice. The only reason China is building road and rail networks is because it thinks it cannot protect the sea lanes in the long tern and is thus building land based alternatives

More burnol to pakistan
Don't let this distract u from the fact that it only took 13 days for shipment

Next up supply machinery to Afghanistan
We already supply machinery to Afghanistan. We've sent fruit juice processing, bottling and cold storage machinery and trained their youths in its operation. Each fruit packaging unit costs just 5 million. Look at how disproportionate the gains are. Earlier it used to spoil most crops during transport so they had to sell off their produce at lower rates. Now they can increase the shelf life of their produce by putting them in tetra packs.

That is why they love India.

New fruits processing factory established in Kandahar

Afghan entrepreneur defies war to squeeze out a juice empire

And Pakistan is already doing its bit..

Omaid Bahar Fruit Company In Afghanistan Badly Damaged By Taliban Suicide Bomber

Unrelated :

India is also investing in Bangladeshi food companies big time, directly or indirectly. We have stakes in the hydro-electric dams which provide electricity to the factories and there are private Indian investors in this particular biscuit called Tim Tim from Olympic. Funded by India-Bangladesh chamber of commerce

Not sure where this is going. It would make sense if ,say,Iran's relationship with Pakistan deteriorated and it gave permission for ,say,Indian military supplies to pass through into Afghanistan. That would definitely concern Pakistan's military planners, The situation might well change in the future, but it seems a lot of money and goods from India seems to be pouring into Afghanistan, with what I see as no obvious return on the investment for India.

The danger is that India might well end up taking their eye off the likes of Nepal,Bhutan,Bangladesh,Burma and Sri Lanka -neighbouring countries which India does not need to go through another country to get access to.

But then again this might not be about Afghanistan at all,but be about Iran, This goes back to the question, when discussing the Chabahar port or Iran's nuclear ambitions: how far is India committed to a partnership with Iran? We know that the US and its allies in the Middle east - Israel and the Gulf States, countries India has solid ties with, are opposed to Iran's hegemonic ambitions in the region.

If Iran is in a strong political position in middle east it is because of the stupidity of US and allies in Iraq, Yemen and Syria. In syria iranian military might is over stated. It is russia which has helped assad and Syrian govt survive. Iran is important for North-South Corridor and it makes sense to have good relationship with them. It does not have to be at the cost of anyone else. Secondly how deadly are iranian nukes compared to rabid paki general controlled ones specifically for India.

Accurate.

The global narrative of "fight against terror" has been hijacked by American narrative of "everyone against US interests is a terrorist". I'd rather have a nuclear Iran than a nuclear Paksitan. The presence of Iran is a stabilizing factor for India. It ties down the Sunni gulf states and their military capability within the region. If Iran were to be wiped out, the Sunni states would get direct access to Paksitan and then to India. The geo-politics would be very different and detrimental to India.

Iran keeps the US and Saudis away from the Indian ocean and it provides cover for us to conduct our business in Baluchistan. If Baluchistan were neighboring a Sunni country, we would have to bid goodbye to our #freebaloch dream.

Whatever gains we are going to make against cutlets in the future is going to be a result of Shia-Sunni rivalry. These groups hate each other enough to team up with a kaffir group to take out the other. Saudi partnered with a Christian USA, and Iran partnered with Hindu India, this is validation of the idea.

Pakis are such disgusting creatures they just won't let Afghans be.

Look at this discussion with Sartaj *ShitSpewer* Aziz and the deputy FM and former minister of commerce of Afghanistan.

Literally all throughout the video the shit spewer is adamant on stalling any progress between Pak and Afghanistan through "talks" only.
The Afghans want concrete steps so that that their materials aren't stolen and held for ransom in Napakiland but the shit spewer doesn't care.
Pakis know a more vibrant and self sustainable Afghanistan means that they will not get aid and weapons from daddy USA.

Such is the hypocrisy of pakis that they can trade with India all they want but won't allow Indian goods through napakiland but only Afghan exports to India citing geopolitics.
Why doesn't geopolitics stop Pakis from trading with us?
They just want to stop Afghanistan from getting Indian goods.

Yup.

Hate is an understatement. Pakistani vegetable traders and truck drivers going in and out of Afghanistan are scared to reveal that they are Pakistani. They call themselves Indians. Incidentally that's exactly what elite Pakistanis do in the US. It's only in Britain that they have a separate 'Pakistani' identity for some reason. Britain has nurtured the divide, to prevent a 'South Asian' solidarity. Otherwise I don't know a single country which likes Pakistanis. Turkey recently supported them in the terror watchlist issue and helps them in OIC. Even Saudi Arabia and China treats them like a dog with fleas.
