Putin and Biden has a phone call tomorrow, can be seen in that context.
everyone has to look after their own self-interest.
Yes, they do. This gruffy line of media statements was what I was pointing to. Such statements leave lesser room for maneuverability in the future or you look like a complete hypocrite/fool. In this case, for example, he puts India in a fix by saying "Indian friends...have shown that who will be a partner in this area and other"- what if India were to award the US the contract for F21s? Or some of their SAM systems that the US has proposed. Personally, been a big fan of Western diplomacy- they know the art of flirting- at the best One Night Stand (Pakistan) and at the worst no reply to the messages (Imran Khan), and never block you out(Iran)

Then foreign policy watching becomes boring for people like us..
The fact that we are witnessing masters of the game playing their game, makes this even more interesting.

A part of me believes that Indian Foreign Services guys are just like our other bureaucrats and do nothing waiting for the situation to pass away, they can outbeta the alpha amongst Betas for being Beta.

And there is another part who believes that these guys take their cue from the best- their institutional lineage from ICS and they carry those traits.

But I like to believe the first axiom more.

My take is that Indian Foreign policy is in a transition phase right now, there is a conscious attempt to do a course correction, results of which will take atleast a decade to be visible.

to support my argument the policy change that took place during Sushma Swaraj's tenure to extend the scope of diplomatic missions from just being a visa service to be trade envoys of India in their respective postings. same with defence attaches of our embassies.

Indonesia seeks Indian defence tech, pushes for joint production amid Chinese belligerence

Indonesia has sought defence technology from India to bolster its security apparatus amid Chinese expansionist tendencies in the region. Southeast Asia's biggest nation is exploring joint defence production with India, ET has learnt, and is considering the possibility of jointly producing military vehicles and water cannons.

- UAE wants to become Singapore 2.0.
- Israel wants to be legitimized fully.
- We want to create an alternative to BRI
- USA wants to just be there as usual into everything.

So it is quite a win. Let's hope Biden-Harris don't crap on it.

Our relationship with Iran will depend a lot on how their relationship with US-Israel moves ahead. If they can come to some JCPOA kind of amicable arrangement, then this port can have a lot of lifeline, other wise it's kind of going to remain a "strategic asset with a lot of potential". Current trend indicates otherwise, neither side is budging and Democrats are more war-friendly

Did we not pressure the UN to drop the issue? I mean, is it still relevant, except for being a good reason for increasing our outreach to the Armenians, Georgians, and the Greeks?

Vice-Speaker: Armenia reaffirms its support to India on the Jammu and Kashmir issue

RA NA Vice President, Head of the Armenia-India Friendship Group Hakob Arshakyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Armenia Kishan Dan Dewal.

As reported by the press service of the RA parliament, the members of the Friendship Group Tsovinar Vardanyan, Taguhi Ghazaryan, Tigran Abrahamyan and Narek Babayan were also present at the meeting. The NA Vice President has noted that the rich historical past of the Armenian-Indian relations is the best basis for the expansion of interstate ties. In this context, Hakob Arshakyan highlighted the Ambassador's active participation and effective work.

"During the past 29 years, since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Armenia and India succeeded in turning friendly ties with deep historical roots into warm interstate and partnership relations," Hakob Arshakyan underlined. Within the framework of the inter- parliamentary cooperation, he particularly stressed the role of the Friendship Group.

Speaking about the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the NA Vice President referred to the importance of the immediate return of the persons held as captives in Azerbaijan and non-fulfillment of the provisions of the November 9 trilateral statement by that state. The NA Vice President has emphasized that in this respect our country appreciates the balanced statements and the role of India in the international arena. Hakob Arshakyan has stated that Armenia reaffirms its support to India on the Jammu and Kashmir issue. He expressed hope that the issue would be resolved peacefully.

According to the NA Vice President, Armenia mutually beneficially cooperates with the friendly India in different spheres. As a satisfactory fact, he stated that in 2019 compared to the same period, the volumes of the export to India increased almost 20 times, being 73,4 mln USD, and the trade turnover between the two countries increased about 2,7%.

Touching upon the cooperation in various spheres, Hakob Arshakyan singled out the activities of the Armenian-Indian Center for Excellence in ICT.

The implementation of direct aviation flights between the two countries was highlighted from the viewpoint of expanding the cooperation in the fields of tourism and business development. They have also referred to the student exchange programmes in the sphere of education, in particular it has been noted that more than 3000 Indian students receive education in Armenia. The importance of the North-South road corridor and its international significance was underlined. An agreement was reached to work on the review and expansion of the memorandum of the Cooperation between Armenia and India in 2005.

The Ambassador has attached importance to the deepening of the Armenian-Indian relations too and has noted that the Friendship Group will be also formed in the Indian Parliament soon. He considered the mutual visits of the Friendship Groups necessary in terms of deepening the inter-parliamentary relations. Kishan Dan Dewal highlighted the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through peaceful negotiations and within the framework of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The members of the Friendship Group have also stated, that they are ready to make efforts in order to carry out mutually beneficial programmes.

New perspective directions of the bilateral cooperation were discussed, the need of deepening the collaboration in different spheres was underlined. They touched upon a number of other programmes of student exchange in the field of education too.

Maybe it's just a binary assumption, since azeris are supporting paki pov, armenians are supporting Indian POV. once MEA engagement becomes more with them, they will realise that Kashmir is just one aspect of many facets of India's foreign policy.

Indeed. Azerbaijan needs to understand that it is making a mistake. These guys are not the typical Muslims that you and we discuss here. There is a lot we can trade with them for. One reason being their Caspian coast.

Earlier, the North-South Transport Corridor included Azerbaijan as a participant, which has now changed to Armenia and Georgia. Armenia's geography is messed up. Now they cannot even opt to join back into Russian Federation, since they are disconnected by Georgian territory from Russia.

Being sandwiched between Turkey and Azerbaijan, I am wondering what benefit they can offer to us or anyone else in general apart from trans-national logistics corridors. Unless they are sitting on mountains full of lithium or something.

Any thoughts on whether this is a valid statement? or is she dog whistling?

as far as i can remember, Indian media does not take Russian stand as the only stand. more often than not, genuine foreign policy interviews from Indian media is focussed on merits and demerits of the diplomat/foreign leader being interviewed or questioned. like when assad was interviewed, questions were not based on US point of view, and assad's responses against US were not censored/interrupted.
=========
Unusual to see an Indian channel actually ask the Ukrainian govt what it wants rather than just consider what Moscow wants as the only thing that matters.
