I didn't say we should leave the Ruskie camp, I said that we might find it increasingly difficult to stay there, in times to come. It depends a lot on Muricans response actually- you cannot reap economic benefits of association on one hand and play the "sovereignty" card with equal footing on the other. Think of it the other way round, what will Russia buy from India? Can they substitute the US and EU trading block? Our domestic MIC is yet to mature. To tell you the truth many things we do not have the know how or will to build quality products.
Russkies MIC can give us some leverage when choosing our weapons. If full pivot to US camp is done say bye bye to strategic independence or autonomy. We will become another japan at best or another Pakistan type randi at worst.
If India is willing to live with sanctioned economy for the sake of defence hardware autonomy, it'll go ahead but given the hunger for development in the masses now I hardly think so. Even after an active military action at the border, we didn't completely stop Chinese investments- they are the biggest partners in a lot of VC firms that fund India's unicorns . For us Economy>>>> , for now.
