It all depends on how long the afgan govt can hold out against the taliban.

Contrary to the popular belief here afgan govt won't fall that easily.

The remains of northern alliance are once again banding up to fight against the taliban so things might get sluggish again.

Another thing to note is that in a lot of district's the taliban moves in plants a flag takes some pictures and then leaves again due to insufficient manpower.

India is actively working behind the scenes to keep afgan govt in the game as long as possible if one is to combine the news popping out of the region.

The recent capture of Tajik Afghan border area by Taliban and the sudden appearance of long defunct groups under the northern alliance popping up near Tajikistan is no coincidence.

Communication channels that were dead for over a decade are now being reestablished and activated. Groups that were supposed to be long defunct are now coming back with weapons and ammunition to support the afgan govt with all they have. The entire northern sector has lit up and is buzzing with activity.

Remember the tweet about a Indian c-17 hovering around afghanistan with its flight trajectory towards Tajikistan being posted here a few days ago.

What do you think was that transporter doing around farkhor airbase.
Connect the dots

Last year during September the first intra-Afghan dialogue between Kabul & Taliban took place. India was also a participant in this meet and it was probably the first time that we had engaged with taliban in a summit.

By the end of this meet it had become abundantly clear to all the parties present there that US was now packing its bags and going home.

From that point on India started to open various channels with taliban to try and attempt a successful power sharing agreement between the Afghan govt and the Taliban. This was basically the Indian govt giving MEA a chance to try and protect our interests in Afghanistan.

Talks would continue till the end of 2020 and remain inconclusive as India aimed for a power sharing agreement while taliban aimed for total control.

The situation started to rapidly devolve when taliban undertook various offenses against ANA despite multiple warnings from US warning them of continued US presence in case of continued attacks. It was a massive gamble by taliban but they were right and the bluff of US was caught. No matter what happened in Afghanisatan US was now leaving that place. Diplomacy had clearly failed.

It was around this time India started to look at the Chinese influence in Afghanistan with great concern.

It slowly became clear that we could not match the influence of Pakistan in taliban and neither the investments of china into Afghanistan due to the lack of border. The US was also in a similar dilemma it could not allow the Chinese to run wild in Afghanistan and completely overthrow the US influence in the region.

Now over the next few months various Indian and afghan officials meet each other at various locations. High level dignitaries from both sides assure each other of support cooperation and funding meetings continue to take place well into 2021.

Now one might wonder what was all this for and what was the aim here. Few months into 2021 and we start to get this news.

Geopolitics in the region is turning around fast we must not be surprised in Iran India and Russia get back to contain the situation.

aisi hi baatein sun kar history ko judge karna padta hai neutral ho kar

after death of baji rao... as much as 20% of maratha forces were pathans(sellswords/pindaris)... in the name of peshwa they ravaged hindu villages from east to west & peshwa couldn't do much to control them

Bengali Hindus saw marathas as saviours... but these pindaris proved worse than the nawab... taking away high caste girls... & on interference by higher maratha official used to return them after days(gangraped)

aaj ke RAJASTHAN mein Islamic population half se bhi kam hota agar... malhar rao holkar ne ek huge Pashtun lashkar ko jaipur mein nahi basaya hota... & thus began the royal family of "tonk"... the only muslim royal in Rajasthan

shocking hai... par kya kar sakte hain... kisi ki bhi "dur-drishti" zyada dur ki nahi thi😑

Not exactly a chad move. Pretty lame response from Russia. British destroyer sailed 3 km inside Russian (Crimean) naval boundary unchallenged. In response, Russia sent a patrol boat and a slow ground attack plane (Su-24) to scare it.

Now the ship sent by the British is HMS Defender (a Type 45-class Destroyer), which is a dedicated anti-air and anti-missile destroyer, which means it could have shot the poor Su-24 down 10 times before it can even come close to deploy anti-ship munition.

In fact, except for anti-ship missiles of Russia's (Onyx/Kalibir/Brahmos-class), HMS Defender outclasses any Russian Navy surface ship.
Thanks for detailed cover.

Crimean peninsula is brimming with anti ship and air defence missiles. HMS Defender, would be at the bottom of the black sea in no time.. Also, as per Unclos a naval ship can make an innocent passage ( without weapons trials etc..)through territorial waters of another country without informing it.. But, nations differ on what innocent passage really means here..
I would say, the Defender passage was not so innocent..

The discovery of the Garuda pillar inscription of Besnagar is a landmark in the history of Bhagavatism. The inscription records the erection of a Garuda standard in honour of VASUDEVA, the god of gods, by a greek ambassador Heliodorus who describes himself as a BHAGVATA (see Heliodorus Column), and a resident of Taksasila.

The ambassador came from the Greek king Antialcidis to Kautsiputra Bhagabhadra identified with the fifth Sunga king, and the record is dated in the fourteenth year of his reign, approximating to 113 bc.
