J&K has a new Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha. Hot-headed chad from the Cow Belt. Perfect pick for the job, because he's a politician, is sufficiently disconnected from the "numbers" (unlike a bureaucrat-turned-Guv), and can play in the front-foot when it comes to security matters (unlike a dhoti-shivering bureaucrat).

Oh yes, saudis were pissed off with niazi, mahatir and erdagon for trying to create a parallel OIC.
Can't blame pakis for trying to be ambitious, but the problem with pakistan has always been they overestimate their geopolitical worth. Being at the mercy of their masters like Arab countries and China doesn't give them the room for independent foreign policy. They get carried away at the slightest bit of support from a powerful country.

So time and time again they get bitch slapped. Just being a nuclear weapon state is not enough, ask North Korea.

Technically Bhumihar, but they're pretty badass folks as well.

Yup, apparently there was a brief period in 90’s where they almost controlled the oil from the CIS countries. failed because of Islamist rhetoric.

Not Rajput but bhumihar. A sub set of brahmins with martial background dating back to Lord Parshuram.

Nothing matches GD Bakshi. Actually before Satyapal Malik, GD bakshi & Gen Ata hasnain were front runners but Govt opted for diplomatic Malik. But in current scenario GD Bakshi was the need of the hour.

I think Shekhar Gupta is on point: whenever Delhi is faced with a big problem in Kashmir, it sends either former bureaucrats or former senior officers from the Police or Armed Forces as governors to J&K. Delhi sending a politician now as governor means that it wants to re-start the political process within J&K (legislative assembly elections, etc). If Abdullahs and Muftis want to stay away from the process, it's their loss, because it will be a clean sweep for the BJP. There's a whole new wave of youth and businessmen who want to be first-time politicians.

Military man cannot handle complex administrative restructuring, only a senior babu with institutional knowledge can handle those things.

Security establishment restructuring had already happened during the brief period of BJP-PDP govt.

we are not tracking the governance lapses within J&K, I’ll bet it would have been a mess.
